It's rare for me to say a film got under my skin, yet Lynne Ramsay's "Die My Love" did. It’s as chaotic as it is haunting & it's up there with the best of the year. Jennifer Lawrence's performance is raw & terrific.

I'm conflicted with "Predator: Badlands" it lacked the thrill of the hunt, yet there's some entertainment. I liked Dek's journey & some of the action. While I liked Elle Fanning's dual roles, her heel turn as Tessa & Thia who came off like Joan Cusack in Toys, got too much.

There's nothing wrong with "Shelby Oaks" being inspired by better films, but it needed to use that inspiration to stand out for itself & it doesn't. Narratively disjointed to the point that the climax doesn’t deliver, but Camille Sullivan's performance carried the film.

A Weekend Getaway to Silent Hill.

After watching "Hell House LLC: Lineage" I'm convinced this franchise got lucky to have two decent entries. Who would've thought moving away from the mockumentary narrative would be so lifeless in a horror that struggled to make its way to a comical nothing ending.

"The Ritual", I guess it tried with the old priest with a past & a young priest questioning his faith routine. It's a nauseating watch with the camera work being controlled by a drunk puppeteer.

"Shadow of God", an exorcism film that tried to be different in a tiresome subgenre, yet the tone is at odds with itself & the poor Raiders of the Lost Ark final act didn't help despite the good payoff. Mark O'Brien's priest is like a beat cop who's seen it all before retirement.

The other new 4k + Blu-ray I got today from HMV is the Criterion Collection release of the 1980 Sci-fi Horror "Altered States" by Ken Russell.

Well, October continues to be good for horror physical media releases as I picked up from HMV the Blu-ray of "Weapons" by Zach Cregger.
