Meet my favorite unicorn from my YA fantasy novel, Nylos in the Cache! Kavi, like all unicorns in the Cache, is non-binary. They are benevolent, friendly, optimistic, and unintentionally funny. A lot of this character was inspired by Star Trek’s Data. (Yes, I’m a Star Trek nerd.).

That’s exactly what I thought, but now I think I realize neither are sprints. It’s all a marathon where we are always looking at craft. I’ll have to put a cap on number of queries though before I continue self publishing!

Attempt #1 to describe what my book is about:

Magical creatures called Nylos can bond with humans, allowing humans to channel a magical power that’s unique to their bond.

A scientist in this fantasy world called the Cache learns how to force a bond with a Nylo giving humans the power to choose.

I’ve stepped into indie publishing the same way I would have with traditional publishing: a bit naive. It’s been a crazy learning experience, and after I publish my second book independently, I think I may try to trad publish my next/third book! Anyone else go on a similar journey? #writersky
