This, this is the perfect Chicago winter day. Gentle snow falling, not enough to screw up the roads too badly. Chilly but not bone chilling.

Another dad and I just bonded on this flight over our shared love of Southwest Airlines pretzels. Your mid-40s are an absolute rollercoaster of excitement, kids.

Got to the airport at 6:13 pm. Flight boards at 6:25. I was through security with time to go to the bathroom and at the gate by 6:18. The ideal airport experience.

I always thought as I got older I’d get more conservative. But I do not care what you spend your SNAP funds on or who you marry. I do want everyone to pay their fair share of taxes, and if you have a bit more, you pay a bit more.

One of the most underrated things about being done with marathon training is being able to work out JUST FOR FUN. I don’t have to run a set number of miles, I don’t have to stress about missing a workout. I can just go to the gym and zone out.

Cheers to the lives we have, and the lives we’ve had.

Just ran into my 20-something neighbors who were coming home from the bar drunk with boxed wine and Italian beef and look, I love the life we’ve built but there is the teeniest, tiniest part of me that misses those days.
