Because the idea “checks and balances” is a lie.

It is so difficult to not become incredibly cynical these days as these systems, from the federal government, local, police departments, and even the capital get away with murder (LITERALLY).

And we just have to watch & attend meetings like these hoping that in the near future something’ll happen.

Before I moved to the U.S., as I was learning about the American democratic system, I was told over & over that the system was built upon this idea of checks & balances.

12 years here and I see the system fail to “check and balance” itself every single time.

Accountability seems so out of reach.
