Sunday bluegrass trivia: The Greenbriar Boys were one of the first "urban" bluegrass bands, formed in '58 in Greenwich Village. Bob Dylan opened for them at Gerde's Folk City. And they toured with Joan Baez and recorded with her on her album Vol. 2. Hear them on today's CKUA Bluegrass Hour:

His band (started in the 1939) was called Bill Monroe and the Blue Grass Boys (a name Bill took from his home state of Kentucky). The genre eventually started to be called "bluegrass" around the late 50s.
