Was cussed out for biking in the street this morning by an old man. It was too early in the day for his attitude. I missed having my bike, I didn't miss this part of biking.

My TΓa who I haven't seen since 2018, came to visit and I showed off some of my cooking and she cried. I cried a little. And fingers crossed I get to visit her in Mexico City this summer.

Do you also use the transit hub to leave the city regularly?

Has anyone actually use the Salesforce Transit hub? Curious if anyone has and what your thoughts are on it

It should become California's rallying cry, that we will build up our cities so anyone can find safe refuge here.

Poster which shows color photo scene of moving, a room with boxes and clothes sitting on the floor, a chair, and the end of a bed (white rails forming a headrest and a mattress with a red cover). Tomorrow (Tuesday) is a big day for SB 79 in Los Angeles!

You can make a big difference by giving comment at the PLUM committee hearing, 2pm at City Hall

Here’s what's being decided:

Los Angeles Police Department Encourages School
Attendance Amid Recent Downtown Activity
Los Angeles: In light of recent activity in the downtown area, the Los Angeles Police Department would like to take this opportunity to remind parents and students of the importance of staying in school.
School attendance is mandatory in the City of Los Angeles and there may be legal consequences for parents and students for:
β€’ Day time Curfew violations - It is unlawful for any minors under 18 to be in public places, streets, or amusement spots during school hours (typically 8:30 am
to 1:30 pm. The only exception includes being with a parent, authorized school activities, or emergencies.
β€’ California Education Code violations:
β€’ Mandates that all children between the ages of six and eighteen, unless exempted, must attend a full-time public day school for the full designated school day.
β€’ Middle and high school students are legally permitted one excused absence per calendar year to participate in a "civic or political event," provided advance school notification (emphasis added).
β€’ Additionally, Los Angeles Unified School District policy states that three or more unexcused absences or tardies of 30 minutes or more, can trigger a School Attendance Review Board (SARB) intervention for disciplinary action.
Parents and students are also reminded that presence at school promotes intellectual growth. It becomes more difficult to fill knowledge gaps with student absences. Attendance builds good habits and healthy routines; and provides structure and stability. Lastly, school attendance also increases student safety, which includes safety resources provided by the Los Angeles Unified School District.

Any adult that collects or picks up a child and transports them to participate in any illegal activities may be responsible for Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor and is subject to arrest and prosecution. This law applies to actions like providing drugs/alcohol to minors, promoting truancy, and for parents failing to exercise reasonable supervision.
Community members, parents, and students may contact their local Community Police Station of the Los Angeles Police Department for additional guidance specific to their community.

Melrose was supposed to undergo a complete streets makeover from Highland to Fairfax that would have installed stormwater gardens to mitigate flooding, among other critical safety improvements. The previous councilmember killed the project

I-80 to the Bay Area is completely closed. Heres a photo i took flying by it on Amtrak, sipping on a bev and reclined in my socks.

So much for the superiority and freedom of automobiles and freeways. If only there was a lesson here for planners.

how does someone mow down a family of four, blame the car (no issue was found), transfer real estate to Nevada LLCs to avoid compensating the victims' families, and then walk away with nothing more than probation?

I understand the thought, instead of doing a horrible thing we can do something great. The planner in me is going "Well actually πŸ€“ this is why it wouldn't work" and no one wants or really needs to hear that.

Not worth getting into arguments online over it either.
