You've probably received your ballot in the mail by now! This year, ballots must be RECEIVED by the Clerk's office by 8 pm on Election Day, not just postmarked by the day before. So if you're mailing your ballot, try to get it in the mail by October 29 to be sure your vote counts.

As you may know, earlier today political commentator Charlie Kirk has passed away following the shooting at Utah Valley University. This tragic act of violence has shaken our community. Our deepest sympathy goes to Charlie Kirk’s family, his loved ones, and those who were present at Utah Valley University as they process this tragic event. Political violence has no place in our democracy. We honor the right to free speech and open dialogue, and we unequivocally condemn violence in all forms. When differences arise, they must be resolved through dialogue and compassion. We stand united in rejecting acts of hate and violence, and we reaffirm our belief that our community is strongest when every voice can be heard safely, with dignity, and without fear.

Our chair, Danielle, met this week with Luanne (running for Centerville city council), Pete Shay (a house district chair) and Kai (an enthusiastic volunteer)! Local politics shape our schools, neighborhoods, and daily lives. We support local candidates and policies to build a better Davis County.

Join us to write postcards to our elected officials. We'll bring the supplies; you bring the message you want to share! Join us next Wednesday, August 17, from 6 to 8:30 pm, at 782 E 700 S in Clearfield. Drop in for a few minutes or stay the whole time, and bring a friend!
