No one doubts that. It’s a complex multifaceted issue that requires vigorous action in terms of the food production and consumption.

School meals provide the benefit of economies of scale to feed a population of kids more economically, consistently and better than when most families have to separately plan, buy, prepare and package breakfast, lunch and/or afternoon snacks for school kids to eat before, at or after school.

Tommy Robinson not guilty of terror offence after not giving police access to phone Robinson, whose real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, was found not guilty at Westminster Magistrates' Court.

So, I think I’ve got this right.
Pacifist grannies holding a cardboard sign are terrorists, but Yaxley Lennon is a freedom loving journalist.
Glad the judge was concentrating on the facts in the parallel universe he occupies.

Dave Hill: Katie Lam should learn London's language Recent comments about the capital's school children's English skills suggest the Tory MP from Kent must try harder

Could Katie Lam identify the London schools where "more than three-quarters of children don’t speak English to a serviceable school standard". Well done to @davehillonlondon.bsky.social for giving Lam + CPS the chance to substantiate this claim at the Tory fringe

Don't be fooled, Tommy Robinson and Elon Musk are playing you The message the hate engine transmits is simple: asylum seekers are not really people in need

Robinson, Musk and Badenoch are all part of an industry of grievance, a machine designed to spread hate which now operates across the British right – from respectable print outlets to wild-eyed online fascists

A story in Private Eye, headlined "Minority representation on TV causes outrage". The article reads: "There has been widespread support for prominent Reform MP Sarah Pochin after she complained about the over-representation of minorities on television.

Said one angry viewer, "She's right. Every time you turn on the telly there's another Reform MP being interviewed by Laura Kuenssberg."

She added, "I respect their way of life and their strange customs, but Reform MPs comprise only 0.7 percent of the House of Commons. Yet Nigel Farage is on Question Time more than Fiona Bruce."

"I'm not prejudiced. Some of my best friends are swivel-eyed loons, but enough is enough. There are too many people with angry red faces on television."

It's increasingly obvious that Labour's strategy - call it Starmerism, Blue Labour, whatever - has got it badly wrong. It has alienated the party's core vote while failing to win over those leaning to Reform. There was no shortage of people warning them they were getting it wrong either.

Reeves considers adding 1p to basic rate or raising higher or additional tax rates.

There must be no tax rise for the bottom 50%.

Must tax dividends & capital gains at same rate as wages, restrict tax relief on pension contributions to basic rate only.

HMRC hasn't collected over £500bn since 2010

We must act now: without a written constitution, Reform UK will have carte blanche to toxify our nation | Goerge Monbiot It means breaking with hundreds of years of tradition, but it can’t wait. As hard-right figures spread division and laud autocrats, a fail-safe is vital, says Guardian columnist George Monbiot

We're facing a political emergency: a high likelihood of an shamelessly authoritarian government in 2029. So we urgently need this basic safeguard: a codified constitution.
This week's column explains what we're missing and why it's so important.
