It's not weird that, after decades of managing your emotions-- keeping your head above water-- that you let your hobbies & interests & passions slide. Remembering & rediscovering them in trauma recovery is remembering & rediscovering you.

That is: a high recovery priority.

That people pleasing reflex isn't you being "weak," or even a "choice" per se. It's the tip of the iceberg of the "fawn" trauma response, which has its roots deep in our sympathetic nervous system-- but which can LOOK like a "choice," or even a manifestation of our "personality."

You do not have to conquer every trigger or trauma response you experience w/ elegance & charisma. Are you kidding? Just get through it. That's the goal. Get through it without kicking the sh*t out of yourself. Anything beyond that is gravy.

but i can also totally get the frustration when something isnt mentioned, or its brushed off, or minimized. i think its a tricky balance, and we all have our individual preferences.

i think its an art integrating it into the story, making it feel natural while also making it clear. It's not an easy task. I can enjoy it when i get to know the character before finding out their identity, and i like that i get to know Susie before we find out about who she likes!

Ok yeah I think I can see what you mean. Representation has less impact when it is unclear! i wonder if some artists choose to be more subtle about it to make it seem "ordinary"? as a way of normalizing it? but then you risk it being so subtle that everyone misses it XD

What you need or create in your own trauma recovery will be specific to you, but I can tell you one thing that is NOT part of ANY survivor's recovery: perfection.

If you're giving yourself sh*t for not being "perfect," you're responding to an old wound w/ an unrealistic goal.

I think the great thing about Delta rune is you can have a nice casual experience or do a deep dive, theres so much there to explore. Susie is my favorite too. I am curious about what you mean about more explicit rep - to me it seemed clear that there is romantic intention between susie and noelle

i think his shoes are weird. David explained to me that its the same designer who does the kingdom heart characters. so it made sense once i knew that.
