Scotiacon 2026: Howl at High Noon

Remember, you don't need to wait and can also change to Attending Only before Jan 4th. We also have a handful of double rooms still available at the Hilton Garden Inn, our second event hotel. If you wish to opt for one of these, please contact our Reg team at the address below.

After Jan 4th, room choices will be locked and no further changes can be made. All registrations still awaiting rooms will then be cancelled. Anyone still wishing to attend will then need to contact us at the address below to switch to Attending Only and also pay before Jan 10th.

This means that, after January 4th, no new registrations will be accepted. Following this, you'll have one week to update existing registrations, such as changing badge images, or adding upgrades like a T-shirt or Sponsor option. After January 10th no further changes can be made.

Howdy folks! The long journey towards Scotiacon 2026: Howl at High Noon is almost at its end, so we need to talk about the impending close of registration and what this means. First, the most important bit: registration for Scotiacon 2026 will close on Sunday January 4th!

Hi folks! That's write! Uh, right! Scotiacon welcomes its first ever writer as our Guest of Honour in 2026! Todd Aldrington, AKA AthleteRaccoon, is a published UK author with several books published. Best known are their six Todd and Colton books, but they have written several others as well.

Hey everyone! Were you wondering? Come and find out who we're putting in the spotlight this year! It's time to reveal our 2026 Guest of Honour!

Remember, you can include our mascot, Wallace, if you wish. Submissions don't have to be new work; if you have something already made which fits our Wild West theme, Howl at High Noon, we'd love to see it! Send it to the address below by December 1st!

We're grateful to receive any artwork submissions, but right now we're most of all on the lookout for banner art and transparent PNGs. Banners must be at a minimum resolution of 3000x6000px, while transparent PNGs can be of any size and aspect.

While you cannot apply to enter the Dance Competition as both a solo dancer and as part of a group, you are welcome to apply for both Dance Competition and Beatdrop Beatdown entry - one does not affect the chance of you being selected for the other.

This year our Dance Competition is offering a contest for group performances as well as solo dancers! Due to capacity those dancing in groups cannot also appear as solo performers, so choose carefully.

You'll need to agree to our Art Auction Terms & Conditions, which will be shown as part of the pre-registration process and also in the Art Auction room at the convention. Remember, pre-registration is not "first come, first served" so take the time to read them carefully.

Items can also be registered at the convention during the Friday Auction Registration slot, but we highly recommend pre-registering to ensure we have space to display your item. Pre-registered items should also be brought to the Friday registration session to be put on display.

In the meantime, we are still open for applications for new volunteers to join our Events team until October 31st - see our earlier announcement post for details on how to apply!

During this process all proposals will be locked and cannot be edited. If you need to change anything in your proposal, either reach out to the Events team mailbox at the address below or speak with your Events team contact if one reaches out to you.

Ultimately, everyone who has made a pitch via our events system will receive an email informing them if their pitch has been accepted. We anticipate that these will be sent by mid-December at the latest. As always, we will try to fit as many of your proposals as we can!

Our Events team is now reviewing each proposal and may reach out to understand more about certain events as they work to assess each pitch, determine what is plausible to run, and how they may fit in the schedule. Don't worry if you don't hear from them immediately, though!

Hi folks! Now that we've closed for event and DJ set submissions, it's time to look ahead and give those of you who have made a pitch an idea of what comes next in the process.

Hey y'all! Thanks to everyone who has pitched an event or DJ set so far. There's been a lot of interest but if you're still waiting for the perfect moment, submissions are only open until Sunday October 26th!

Applications will be open until October 31st, but we'll review applications as they come in. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to have a chat with us about the role to see if it's a good fit for you. We're looking forward to adding a number of you to our team this year!

If you're interested in either of these roles and would like to help us put on a shindig this year, please send us an email to the address below to apply. Please write a bit about yourself, what you like about the role you're applying for, and why you'd be great at it.

We're also looking for Shift Leads who, in addition to the above, will provide leadership and a point of escalation for the Events team during shifts at the convention. This is a more senior role which will carry more responsibility so tangible relevant experience will be needed.

We're a diverse team, but we'd definitely like volunteers for this role to have the following:
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- The ability to manage multiple tasks and keep calm under pressure
