Will there be anyone left in that new university infrastructure? Frozen tuitions and static funding coupled with the removal of the revenue tools available in attracting International students to our excellent education.. these buildings will be empty.. like your homes for an unemployed workforce..

Are we encouraging International students to buy the incredible education offered in Canada? Health and Education services make up 14% of the Canadian economy, but your faulty budget will destroy both sectors for generations in order to address fields of employment that are smaller and outmoded.

And crippling universities and colleges through myopic limits on International students at a time when innovation (and productivity) needs fostering in this country. International study creates our renown and expands our future. Your budget will destroy higher education for generations to come.

Canada will reduce international student permits by more than half, budget reveals “The new study permit caps further erode Canada’s reputation,” said one critic of Ottawa’s plan to next year limit new international student permits to 150,000 from a previous target of 305,900.

@armineyalnizyan.bsky.social In your Considerations for Preparing the Next Federal Budget of Canada, you wrote: “At 13.7% of GDP… health & social assistance and education are the biggest drivers of the Canadian economy”. What is your reaction to these reductions? Can you outline the logic? Thanks!

More precisely: “The official organizing body of the Six Kings tournament is the Saudi General Entertainment Authority (GEA), a government entity responsible for regulating and promoting the entertainment industry in the Kingdom.” Also, “sponsored by Aramco, Saudi Arabia’s state-owned oil company.”

I’m not on Instagram but if someone could get Nick Kyrgios to ask the “six kings” this question, I’m sure he’ll do it. He’s proper and demands accountability.

@thetennisletter.bsky.social @benrothenberg.bsky.social can either of you ask the “six kings” to take a position on the Saudi state-sanctioned murder of Jamal Khashoggi and the ongoing Saudi capital punishment for homosexuality? Please ask them. Demand a response on their position on human rights.

Saudi money. I guess Sinner et al are okay taking money from a government that murders journalists and queers. Boycott these assholes and kick them out of the ATP.

Everyone hates the mini-Slam schedule between Wimbledon and US Open: they’re too long and dangerous to athlete health. ATP and WTA won’t change. Here’s an idea: cancel #nationalbankopen, which helps fund #tenniscanada. Let’s boycott after TC’s decision to host a genocidal regime in the #daviscup.

I give more stock in Conference: its timely allegory to the cinematic ‘man’ isn’t only cinematic: it activates optics/movement as material deferral—slipping between violence and paranoia. Hard not to think of these men looped together after a rally and of their destruction via rage and suspicion.

Yes, Dry Leaf and Morgenkreis resonate. Especially Basma’s work: expansive while precise and concise, in the face of grief and anger—it’s rather relevatory.

I appreciate this, it is a “best of” list. I’m just disheartened by the range within the consensus (a paradox). The tonal encoding in the substantial list, looked at broadly, risks a trap of constraint, a mode of being “Experimental”, that feels queasy (not the good kind) and a bit of a concession.

I mean, even if you disagree with any of what I’ve questioned above, let’s just agree that this collated list is very… positioned… For a list of the “Best Experimental Films of the 21st Century”, some of it kinda misses “the 21st Century”…

I suspect player injury/injury avoidance (ie., tournament withdrawal) will be an issue with the scheduling of Washington, Toronto/Montreal, Cincinnati. The pace may be career shortening.

The Palestinian Statehood Drive Is a Despicable Sham Western countries are rushing to recognize Palestine not to stop genocide but to solve a political problem. They're offering colonial lies dressed up as liberation.

Canada, France, Britain, and others offer Palestinians the same poisoned chalice they have offered for decades: recognition without sovereignty, statehood without power, liberation without freedom, writes Ahmad Ibsais. www.thenation.com/article/worl...

Erica Balsom’s “Reflections on an Exhibition” (New Left Review, 2023) is a generous perspective on the making of an exhibition (“No Master Territories: Feminist Worldmaking and the Moving Image”, with Hila Peleg at HKW). Clear and precise (as always), she offers a lot to any exhibition-maker here.

Molly Nesbit’s “The Language of Industry” in the Thierry de Duve edited volume “The Definitively unfinished Marcel Duchamp” (1991). The slipperiness of Duchamp through a materialist analysis (of French aesthetic pedagogy) without cauterizing all the openings. Changed my idea of art at 19.
