I mostly report to West Mercia, and my experience isn’t great.

Feedback to reporters has worsened (no segregation between warning / NIP).

Worse is I have evidence via FOI that some reports advised as NIP are actually NFA.

It’s proving difficult to find out what’s happening. Not great.

One of those captcha things. This one says β€˜select all images with bicycles. Click verify once there are none left’. There are 9 squares - 4 contain photos of bicycle seats, with the remaining 5 showing the beautiful head and face of a grey greyhound with a white stripe going from the top of their head to the tip of their nose.

We normally repair, safety check and sell on for Β£20 - Β£100 but I’m guessing these are worth a bit more?

Next Sat 19 July is the 50th consecutive monthly critical mass ride in Worcester.

Spread the word. Everyone’s welcome on any bike / trike / wheelchair / scooter / skateboard / roller skate / other.

No set route (follow the leader) and we ride at the speed of the slowest rider.

Long journeys take longer in an EV compared with ICE. This is the way.

You’re right, I’m wrong πŸ˜‚.

But I’d propose a correction, which is a perception of a lack of charging infrastructure, rather than that being a reality (based on current charging and current EV numbers).

I’ve had one for 5 years, never had a problem (just checked with partner).

Fuel Price Escalator - Wikipedia

Has there been any research on barriers to take up?

I’d hypothesise a bigger barrier is the fact it’s something different (differentism?) as in fear of change. Next is cost. So bringing back the fuel price escalator helps move the dial.

We should acknowledge private car ownership as a problem, and its cost to society, and set policy to change it.

Average in Worcester (100,000 pop) is 20% of households with no car. City centre this is as high as 75%.

The average UK car does nowt for 95% of the time.

Holistically this is daft.

13.07.2025 08:09 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Kerb side, but take your point.

Agree with LAs shouldn’t be out of pocket (including investment, management, operating cost, maintenance and admin).

I’ve had an EV for 5 years, couldn’t charge at home for the first 12 months.

It was not a problem.

13.07.2025 07:46 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

I’m not aware of any plans for the latter.

Eg. every household pays Β£1000 per car registered at an address, money to LA.

Households with no car get a Β£1000 rebate.

13.07.2025 07:41 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

I was in London village this week. Saw lots of charging coming from lampposts (which is what’s happening in the picture). If this is established, why not start with that?

Or better, why not work harder at incentivising a reduction in car ownership / use?
