It’s interesting it almost feels like one is allowed and accepted to be part of your identity but the other isn’t, I’ve had people in my life tell me to avoid labelling myself as schizophrenic and say “I have mental health” to shy away from making it any part of myself, as if it might just go away

You can call something queer art, but mad art…? Maybe less so

Though I am a queer person making art, and therefore my art is influenced in some way by that, I really do think it’s more (consciously) informed by trauma and my lived experiences as someone on the schizophrenic spectrum - which leaves me out of sorts as to where to categorise my work
