The only time I’ve seen the media go easier on a president than Trump this last year was GW Bush after 9/11 (which lasted awhile).

I rewatched 2025 election coverage a few nights ago and it’s really funny to see the MSM go from almost giddy to very neutral and muted as it became clear the Dems were winning big everywhere.

The NJ Gov and VA AG race were basically all they talked about for the first two hours

There is a weird friction happening now where the media wants to go easy on Trump but the media also wants to be angry with the general public.

As trumps approvals drop the media becomes less comfortable toeing the line.

They still mostly tow the line but I can see the friction starting

The press had gotten a little harder on the Trump admin. I’d say going from a 1 to 3 on a ten point aggressiveness scale.

Biden was at a 10/10 on the scale. The MSM hated Biden more than any other recent president.

One thing I notice in politics:

Whenever the gop base nominates a crazy person the media is like “what is happening that drives them to this”

But when the dem base nominates a more aggressive candidate the media says “Dem voters are extreme”

All the compassion is given to GOP base none to Dems

The problem with “centrist”/moderate pundits is that they hate the normie dem voter more than any other group
