Them: No LTNs! Let's have school streets instead.
Council: Ok!
Them: No, not like that.

The #ElizabethLine is definitely a success. #Hanwell is absolutely packed at rush hour but busy outside of that and at weekends. Itβs about time for #TFL to stop terminating so many westbound trains at Paddington and give us (and Acton Main Line) a more frequent service.

Sewage in the rivers affects even the super-rich. There is poo the Sultanβs private lake.

The most dangerous transport gap in Ealing is the gap between the council's rhetoric and action in support of active travel.

[Then] No to LTNs. Let's have school streets instead.
[Now] No no no. Not *that* school street.

Brent Meadow to Top Locks has been voted Ealingβs favourite walk. With our 50th Anniversary coming up on 29th June, it's great to know how Luke FitzHerbert's vision in fighting to found this 7km green chain of parks is still appreciated. FitzHerbert Walk, part of this walk, is named for him.

Itβs the 50th anniversary of the Brent River Park.
It was the brainchild of Luke FitzHerbert, who was one of those larger-than-life characters with bags of energy. A left-wing member of the Bullingdon Club (no, really) and former Irish Guardsman.
No-one writes more eloquently about our little patch of the planet than you, Tony

"There's no better investment which a public body can make than the securing of open space - a boon for the present and an inheritance for generations yet born" Charles Jones, Ealing's first Borough Engineer writing, in 1901, about acquiring Ealing's open spaces. We agree!

20.03.2025 13:51 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0A blue car on a narrow road with cars parked on the footway both sides leaving little space on the footway for pedestrians. There are dotted lines on the footway to allow parking, but the cars are well beyond them.
I have told this story before, but bringing it here. This street has footway parking on both sides which gives 1 metre of walking space beyond the lines. But, if drivers obey the markings, you can't get a car up the middle. Because residents kept getting tickets, I was asked to look at it. 1/n

30.01.2025 20:48 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Ealing Tories and Lib Dems don't have to bother. The council was captured by the OneEaling types , who now can sit quite happily in the cars going nowhere slowly.

Not worth promoting disinformation and hate speech by staying there though. Please do share though, if I heard correctly there are lots to plant!

Rock star river campaigner Feargal Sharkey visited the River Brent recently.
He praised the βheroicβ work of CURB, slammed developers for installing misconnected foul water pipes and criticised the regulatory authorities for their lack of action.
