That's a VERY subjective claim, we do not know what their true dynamic would've been, we do not know Reze's dreams, we also dk if Denji would've even have been mentally ready for a relationship, he would've still had to deal with his hypersexual demons, ur reading the story through a shipping lense

I worded by reply wrong, what I meant to say is that the moment part 2 when Denji was truly happiest was during the aquarium arc, not that it was when he was truly happiest ever, I was only replying to the idea that he was never truly happy in part 2 at all

I do not believe Denji is actually happy or carefree in this panel, he is extremely hurting, that's why he chooses to ignore everything, chooses to not care, to cope harmfully, chooses to chase the false illusion of happiness, this "happy" Denji in ch 200 is much different from this happy Denji

Fringe dude bros probably but the majority of us who feel an attachment to the asaden dynamic and all the potential it had when they weren't so utterly gutted by the horrors of the world around them, are recognizing this as nothing short of tragic for them, they've both given up on living

And it's so unbelievably tragic because he was not anything like Makima, he genuinely cared wanted to help Asa during her times of distress in the beginning, but his psyche has just been so traumatized, he's given up, chosen harmful illusions of false happiness, becoming like Makima along the way

Yeah they met circumstantially, like almost every relationship in CSM, doesn't mean they couldn't really connect heart to heart despite all of that, it wasn't in the script for them to bond like they did to begin with, and I disagree that they would just forget that, hasn't even been that long

But wouldn't their shared moments where they had heart to hearts despite the shitty circumstances they were in, finding a sort of solace in each others personality and interactions, mean they inherently like each other for who they are outside of their circumstances and roles they were placed in?

But I wouldn't say they don't like eachother, I'm sure they do, it's just complicated, and I don't believe those moments they shared were for nothing, I don't think they would've had those genuine moments connecting if fujimoto didn't intend for it to mean something to them

I truly believe they do like and care about eachother in a unique way, I just can't see their genuine heart to heart in the aquarium arc and during the falling devil arc meaning nothing to them and having no real impact on them, it's so tragic but I believe they do care

it's really hard to tell why or what his mental state is as he asks this question but what we do know is that he wants to know the truth of who these two distinctly different personalities he's met are

And not out of him wanting to take it as some kind of dub, cause I personally don't believe he would go down the route of seeing her as only a provider of sex, or to get try to get more "sex" out of it, if he saw it that way I doubt he would really care to ask that question in the first place

But its clear he didn't really like how it made him feel nor what it did to his mental state, of course he doesn't know about her state, but he might want to know more about it through his question, wanting to make sense of the big mess of events that he still hasn't even processed
