Thoroughly enjoying my trip to South Korea, though the weather may succeed in melting me into a puddle.

(Last summer I took on a UK heat wave, so I guess I had to ratchet up the difficulty level this year.)

Off to South Korea 🇰🇷 tomorrow for ~2 weeks—on a tour with a load of US Taekwondo students (including my son), at least for most of it.

We’ll see more of that up here, and we haven’t been without it totally—the heat dome a few years back led to plenty of deaths in Portland (esp the poorer area of Lents), where few city trees, the heat island effect, relative low AC distribution/poverty led to some very sad stories.

I certainly agree—though the state of things in the PNW vs the SW currently comes down to “may be suffocated by wildfire smoke this season” vs “will definitely roast alive in my own house if the power goes out.”

My uncle passed away due to heat exposure in AZ; being poor is its own env risk factor.

But I’ll wait—until mid-July—I’m taking full advantage of the little paid holiday GitHub gave me; resting, traveling, reading, spending time with family and working on some projects I’ve squirreled away.

I’ve never taken this much time for myself between roles, so I plan to enjoy it thoroughly!

I’d say it feels like getting the band back together, but now it’s more of an orchestra—both the staff and services have multiplied, and I can’t wait to take up my new role as Chief Architect, getting back to the sort of work I truly love, working hand-in-hand with a team.
