Like imagine having to go up against fortnite, Apex, League of Legends, Arc Raiders, Rivals, or any established live service game. You launch and if you don't 100x your investment in a few months, depending on who funded your game, your project is a failure!

you can do everything right and you will most likely fail. If you are releasing a live-service game it has to be *leagues* (lol) better than whatever game is in the same niche/genre. Also getting friends to switch games is super hard, no one wants to play a shiny new game alone. This whomps, bro

I read this story and am reminded of what I had to go through at a studio I used to work at full of ex AAA devs trying to make their own thing and I just got so sad man. people never realize that any game that makes it to release is 1) a miracle and 2) standing out is *so* fucking tough
