Clean Water harnesses grassroots power by engaging and mobilizing supporters to become Clean Water Voters by participating in local, state, and national elections and by taking action to protect voting rights and our democracy.
What this means in practice involves voting rights, election outreach, legislative advocacy, environmental justice, participating in coalitions, labor unions, and other direct actions.
At Clean Water Action, we firmly believe democracy work, access to clean water, and supporting the human rights of our neighbors are completely interconnected. We cannot accomplish one without the others.

Waste incinerator emitted an excess of toxic pollutants, test shows
Testing showed Montgomery Countyβs waste incinerator was releasing an average of about 83% more dioxins and furans than is allowed under state law.
Montgomery Countyβs trash incinerator was polluting almost 2x as much dioxins as their permit allowed - which can cause reproductive & developmental problems, damage the immune system, interfere with hormones, & cause cancer.
It's time to shut it down! #ZeroWaste

DC Council memberβs Anacostia River boat tour highlights importance of βbottle billβ - WTOP News
A proposed D.C. bill would create a 10-cent beverage container deposit program aimed at reducing trash and improving water quality.
In DC and MD both - we need a bottle bill!
βFor decades, companies have been polluting our communities and have had no responsibility for collecting the containers theyβve been putting out in our community. And now, if this passes, they will have to pay to do that.β
