As a person with Very Severe ME, I hate how articles describe ME.

“chronic fatigue, some people can’t exercise and work, often people have headaches and nausea”.

I haven’t
* left my bed in 2 years
* spoke in 1.5 years
* heard a human voice in 1.5 years

And that’s how you describe my illness?

Are we seeing a renewed attempt to erase #ME from the all NHS systems? Has a secret decree gone out? I’m seeing more and more reports from pwME about abuse in hospitals and from specialists. The feeble DHSC plan, the disregard of NICE guidelines, endless FND diagnoses from neuros. It’s all downhill.

The mass suffering created and amplified by psychosomatic ideology is absolutely criminal.

None of this has to happen, it's all a choice. No one is responsible or accountable for any of this filth.

And all for complete bullshit fantasies.

Dr Margaret O'Hara, from the pressure group Long Covid Support, said: "We feel really strongly that's it's just being swept under the carpet now. There's a real attitude of see no Covid, hear no Covid. "We are being left in some kind of void."

Sympathies and best wishes. I do experience what many refer to as 'brain fog', but it's only one aspect of many for me.

I use terms like cognitive dysfunction, decline, impairment, but that doesn't cover ie head aches / pressure & 'brain on fire'. I often just call it brain damage - because it is.

Long Covid: Symptoms fluctuate but often worsen, impacts on life, work & income tend to worsen, full recovery is rare (5%), 27% reported worsening after cognitive exertion, less than half had a formal diagnosis (would be much lower still in some countries), cognitive dysfunction (62%) is common.

Thanks Milly. I don't remember ever seeing that in any research papers, but I'm pretty sure I've heard it mentioned by #pwLC several times. Suspect not common, but suspect you're not alone. No idea (& unqualified to guess) what the reasons might be. Wonder if people with #MECFS have any ideas??

Hi Suz. I personally don't use the term brain fog much except to communicate with people because maybe they've heard of it or it sounds descriptive. Cognitive dysfunction is a broader term that includes 'brain fog' but also many other things that might not be working well in the brain post Covid.

Thanks. I don't know, others will know more but guessing it might be like dodgy coppers under investigation who retire and nothing happens. Sympathy is in short supply for him, but my wrath is focused on the whole government + public health leaders - devastating failure, made the problem even worse.
