Today is the 4th anniversary of my album Aspects, which remains my personal favourite. It was the moment I finally landed the sounds and atmospheres I’d been chasing and it pushed my mixing and production to a new level. I’m still incredibly proud of what came together here.

The Twisted Road - concepts

During the concept stage of @simonkewin.co.uk's cover art, having settled on a Möbius strip-shaped space station, I produced several rough sketches for composition and different iterations for a station design that defies the laws of construction.

Here's my cover art for the The Twisted Road, the first book of @simonkewin.co.uk's new science fiction trilogy. I really enjoyed working on this and discussing the various aspects with Simon.

Absolutely delighted to see First Light reviewed in the latest issue of Odyssey, the magazine for members of the British Interplanetary Society - I couldn't ask to reach a more perfect audience!

Very sorry to hear about Lorne Martin's passing. John Collier was regularly in contact with him when we produced our original ebooks on the classic Doctor Who exhibitions. It was a pleasure and an honour to have our work met with his approval really meant a lot.

New cover commission for @simonkewin.co.uk is going well - my first illustration with a new Intuos Pro tablet (having realised my trusty 15-year-old Intuos 4 wasn't compatible with the latest Mac OS!). Looking forward to sharing the results soon...

Got my first cover art concepts for The Twisted Road from @thelightdreams.bsky.social. Really wonderful. I felt quite emotional seeing this book and setting that's been in my head all this time rendered as an actual book cover in the real world.

Coming this spring, INSIDE OUTSIDE, a deep dive into David Bowie’s 1995 dark concept album, 1.Outside. The book explores the album, its origins, the 'Leon' recordings, the subsequent tour and more, in what remains one of Bowie’s most creatively fertile periods. This project is a real labour of love!

My cover art is often informed by synaesthesia. But I really liked the idea that the cover colour scheme would be an indication to the style, before even hearing a note (at least to those already familiar with my music).

Between 2020-2022 I alternated releases between dark, heavy thematic albums with red & black cover art, and lighter, more contemplative albums with black & white cover art. These four are some of my best work. I was considering continuing the red/white theme indefinitely (I didn't, and wish I had!).

If there wasn't a Blake's 7 star in 70s Who, there was usually a costume!

I absolutely love The Sun Makers! A great story, an hilarious script znd generally fab production for the period.

They probably dream about whichever of your conversations they've been listening in on...

2025 creative countdown #1

March saw the publication of my book Evolution of the Toy Dalek. A history of Dalek toys from the 60s to present was a joy to write and design, and a long-time ambition. Being published by Telos was the cherry on the cake! Really proud of this book.

A man I met high in the Peak District who, due to crimes he would not disclose to me, had been turned into two conjoined Sycamore trees by a coven of witches and condemned to spend eternity waving his useless branch hands at the cold, cruel sky.
