About a month. That was back when I wasn't as fast of a reader as I am now. I would take a book with me to class when I was younger and only read it at school and read other books when I was home, so the book I read at school took basically a month for me to read.

what prompted this question? i borrowed acotar from my local library bcuz i ain't buying it for reasons (iykyk) and i just started chapter 3 and nothing's clicking for me so far.

tbf i'm not much of a high fantasy girlie outside of movies and video games. i prefer a modern setting in books.

how long do ya'll personally read a book for before deciding to dnf it?

i give books somewhere between 20-25% because the average page count for books i read is between 300-500 and that's about a third/fourth of the book and if i don't feel like continuing at that point, i dnf it.

same rules apply for physical books in regards to audiobooks because it's a lot of money to spend on audiobooks when i own the book itself and i can't own them all. however, i will contemplate getting the audiobook after reading the physical copy if i liked the book enough

i just got kindle unlimited on my personal acc (i've been using my mom's for the past year lol) so i can read books on my tablet and have resolved to only getting the audiobooks for those books if 1) i already like one or both of the narrators and 2) if i like the sample for said ebook

also, i need to rewire my brain a little this year because idk how i managed to have it wired to be like "yeah sure, reading fanfics on my phone or tablet makes perfect sense" but also be like "ew no i can't read ebooks on my phone or tablet bcuz that's different than reading fanfics"

this year is definitely the year i stop being a "book snob" and actually read ebooks. i prefer physical copies, but i know i'm missing out on a ton of good books by telling myself i can't read it without a book being in my hands

i couldn't seem to get myself into the mood for immersive reading twisted hate tonight, so i decided to read a book i bought recently

only seven chapters in and i am IN LOVE with justin dahl! it's been a while since i've read something romcom-y and i seriously needed it 🥰

Honestly, it depends on WHAT I'm reading.

Fanfiction? It has to be in third person. There's a few exceptions but mostly third person. I can't read it otherwise.

Books? First person. It's the way most books are written and that's what I'm familiar with.

My typical reads tend to be between 300-500 pages. I do have several books that go somewhere between 600-700 pages, but I personally feel that if you go above 700 pages then you are putting too much into a single book and could easily split that into two.

the TikTok algorithm is so good that it even served up the perfect video to act as the background for its ban announcement

unfortunately, god of fury is on-hold for the rest of the day because i need to go through 200 tiktoks i have saved with book recs and need to turn it into a list

i've only been through 23 tiktoks and have almost 50 books listed.... oh boy....

i am enjoying god of fury a lot, but sometimes i have to stop and take a break because of bran's mentions of self-harm. usually self-harm doesn't trigger me, but this specific type does, unfortunately.

teddy hamilton and shane east as niko and bran (respectively) makes this one of the best audiobooks i've read so far since i started listening to audiobooks in december last year. their narrations are really great and it also helps that it's a duet style audiobook

yeah, that's true! like i said, it's not a bad thing. it was just something i noticed was different but i've been really enjoying reading the book so far and have been eating up these scenes

doesn't help that i'm listening to the audiobook at the same time too lmao

note: i also just skimmed through god of war and read a similarly written smut scene to how they're written in GoF, so maybe she did wanna try something new (idk if all of the scenes are like that but that one was)

they certainly weren't written like this in the first four legacy of gods books

maybe but she has over two dozen other books (that i haven't read so idk if it's just GoF or if it's similar in past books) so i would think she'd be comfortable with her writing. tho she could have just wanted to try something new?

the first three books don't mention them too often except for god of malice bcuz of glyn and killian and who they are to them.

everytime one of the mcs would notice something happening between them made me want more of them. everyone would just get confused and it was wonderful

especially during god of ruin considering landon is bran's twin and mia is niko's little sister, they were mentioned very frequently and kept making me wonder how their relationship was progressing in the background.

GoF was the first book recommended to me on tiktok from this series but i decided to read the books in order bcuz it would have felt strange to read it alone

and lemme tell you that their brief mentions in the other books literally made me want to read more about their relationship+

i have to ask, but is it just me or are rina kent's smut scenes in god of fury more descriptive and explicit than the previous four books??

it's just something i noticed and it's similar to the types of smut i would read on ao3, which isn't a bad thing! it's just different imo

because i stayed up for over 24hrs while reading god of ruin, i ended up passing out after chapter 4 of god of fury, but i'm recharged and ready to keep going!

i might just do that but you can't blame me if i get too invested in the book to do that LMAO

I also haven't any sleep since I devoured God of Ruin in one night so I'm jumping straight into this with only energy given to me from food and drinks lmao
