Bothell Councilmember Curd understands that we can fiercely care for our natural environment AND fiercely care for people through housing. We too believe both people and planet are important. Thank you Councilmember Curd for your vision, service, and belief in our campaign!

Watch for County Charter Commish in November! The School District primary is now, yeah.

A few failed attempts at small pieces. City taxes are lower and services are better than in unincorp areas, but cities generally can't finance annexation of more sprawl, which is expensive to retrofit and sometimes less politically aligned with the direction cities take by default ("local control")

The County sets the transportation policy - right now there are only 5 county council members. BUT!!! The county charter commission is on your ballot this November! More representation is possible if the candidates who are running for that commission prioritize an amendment to the County Charter!

Right? More inspiring regional leadership could really help.

The huge swath of unincorporated area between cities means it's unfortunately unlikely to happen in our generation with the County's current transportation paradigm. Check out the County's comp plan bike infra map on page 61 for some hope though: www.snohomishcountywa.gov/DocumentCent...

Bothell neighbors have skills. Clean out your garages!! I want to see bike tuning, yarn spinning, cat cleaning, art sharing, kombucha brewing, tax preparing, floral arranging, tamale supplying, trophy engraving… or whatever your specialty is!

Shouldn't the orca appeal people know astroturfing sheds tire wear particles which affect salmon?

Meanwhile, public-private partnerships are trying to figure out whether they'll exist or not in six months and are experiencing a rapid decay in trust we've been building for decades. A high price to pay for the ✨giggles✨ you get to have while people wait for you to do your job.

Constraining housing capacity in our state's largest cities is literally paving paradise for unsustainable, new suburbia out here. Just wreckless abandonment of the next generation - all for the sake of boosting their real estate to pay for the retirement they didn't otherwise prepare for.

Councilmembers from Seattle are welcome to come out to Bothell, stand at the edge of the urban growth boundary and see what their policies are doing on the other side of the line. It's connected.

Know what kills orcas? Sprawl and cars. Not dense housing in walkable neighborhoods

Bothell/Kenmore Get Help β€” Nourishing Networks

Hopelink has a mobile market throughout Bothell-Kenmore-Woodinville! Great resource for folks with kids that can always use help. Removing parking mandates doesn’t mean parking doesn’t still get built! It just means cool new places aren’t banned because they need to get creative with their footprint.

Downtown Bothell Fire Station 42 is open for folks to charge devices today until 7PM (priority for medical devices). I'm grateful for neighbors checking in on each other and helping out during the extended power outage.

As far as the profession goes, idk how to change the insurance market without really complicated regulation. I'm really interested in how this is dealt with in other countries. Would require an overhaul and may be incompatible with our litigious culture.

Haha step 1: get elected πŸ˜‚βœ… but for real, comp plan policy increasing density maxima in ECAs to offset the cost of reducing risks with expensive engineering; right sizing exemptions from ECAs; 'socialize' engineering by equipping SDCI with qualified staff to run analyses for infill projects; etc

09.11.2024 20:31 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Recovering geo consultant here - SDCI determines reporting reqs by mapped buffers; increasingly difficult for infill/small projects due to small-scale residential Geotech work being disincentivized by insurance market. Expect ~$3k minimum for just a letter documenting whether it actually is an ECA.

Grew up with a backyard creek; I never saw or thought about local spawning until I started working in salmon recovery a few years ago, overcome by awe & emotion about their persistence. It's a transformational experience everyone should see!!
