We're a 501(c)(3) non-profit electronic entertainment museum! Expect games, computers, interesting media, and tech gadgets. You can see, hold, and a lot of the time, power on a lot of items in our inventory! http://bloopmuseum.org/

But that's a wonderful change, tbh
Did you know that over one third of Bloop's collection is boxless?
This means two things:
- We will definitely take your loose game or hardware item.
- We will definitely take your empty box or orphaned manual.
Let us know if you have either, and we'll reunite it. We are variant-aware!
Fantastic video.
Don't forget RFCs 1149 and 2549, though!

27.07.2025 21:10 β π 1 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0Call for help: Bloop needs to make a #forklift materialize at our #Pittsburgh building sometime mid-late next week. We'll need it three times, but probably only for a few hours each time.
Anyone got one we can borrow before we call and rent one instead?

A box labeled "unboxing today@5pm" and a placard in front of it with basics about our new building and a QR are on the left. Then some flyers and chiptune CDs in the center, followed by a Japanese Sega Pico and a Casio Loopy on the right. A handful of people are at the booth behind us and to the right to see/hold/pet kittens.
We met a TON of awesome people at our first Tekko! If you talked to us at a panel, in the hallways, or at our table, please reach out!

05.07.2025 13:53 β π 6 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0Do you own any items - individual specific items, not just ones of the same type - that have a cultural significance in some group?
A Trek prop, one of Mulderβs office posters, one of Steve Jobsβ turtlenecks, an animation cel, the spear of Longinus, a popeβs finger bones - anything?
A metal plate on a black plastic box roughly the same size, a 16-key keypad below some holes for a speaker grille, both roughly centered on the plate, an on/off toggle switch in the upper left, and a red pushbutton in the upper right labeled "RESET".
the circuit board for the previous image, exposing a ceramic AY-3-8910 and a ceramic PIC-1650 directly above the keypad on the PCB, a large orange (1000Β΅F) capacitor up top, assorted chips and other electronic components all around, and a 9V battery connector hanging off the left side.
One of the first sound cards. Not THE first, it's an S-100 sound effects, a stereo AY-3-8910 board for IMSAI/Altair/etc. Mine was owned by the 8910's creator.
Maybe more exotic: his portable demonstration unit, probably the first portable chiptune device.
It'll go in @bloopmuseum.bsky.social soon.

Our crosswalk was removed from the front of our new building, and nobody will take credit for it (so far the local government and the department of transportation have been called), so now we have to figure out how to get another one. π€¨
