Agreed, although it does highlight pricing "issues" if the underlying amount of storage isn't changing but the access mechanism is changing. Feels like price gouging for functionality, I don't imagine the AWS "lustre" is adding much in terms of access hardware.

Joking aside though, the ability to separate storage and access semantics/approaches is very cool

Nice, although on prem you can just keep the Lustre filesystem, you don't need to destroy anything 😉

We run S3 on prem as well...

Jack Dongarra would be the person who can tell you what's allowed

It makes sense if, say, you've got 2 identical systems in your data centre and you want both on the list. Don't need to benchmark them both. However, I think it's a bit dubious going across sites/different sized systems, and at the top end of the list. The system is also meant to be ready on submit.

Top500 made some strange decisions on what was included/how it was included in the list this year.

Also, Isambard-AI hasn't run the benchmark at all.

Nice work from U Bologna: Tenstorrent has a good, if a bit complicated, story around efficiency (performance and perf/watt. What’s not shown in these slides is the massive price difference. At $699, I kinda want to buy one of these accelerators to mess with.
