Annual reminder to tag us if you or your child dress up as an AUP book character for World Book Day tomorrow. I would suggest going as a Scottish Benedictine monk in 17th century Germany, but Patrick Gordon or Sorely Maclean are always great option. Explore more here:

The @copim.bsky.social conference last week was such an excellent conference. Copim and #OpenBookFutures have been such important projects for moving discussions and practices for #OpenAccess books forward 🙌

5/ Thank you to our incredible conference organising team, including @annalchughes.bsky.social, @alittleroad.bsky.social, @clairemcgann.bsky.social, @scholtom.bsky.social, @kirahopkins.bsky.social, Sue Pell & Holly Turpin, as well as to the @lborouniversity.bsky.social conference team
4/ .. it showed both the real work required to change things in local settings, but also a range of inspiring examples of what can be possible. Recordings of this and all sessions will soon be made available, if you missed it.
3/ We at @openbookcollective.bsky.social brought together librarians from around the world to discuss their work as #DiamondOpenAccess changemakers. Chaired by @heroicendeavour.bsky.social & with contributions from Fatimah Abduldayan, @jillasella.bsky.social, @mambalu.bsky.social & Sarah Thompson..
2/ .. but they also extended wider to include the place of scholarly knowledge in open publishing, what doing accessibility for books really looks like in practice, and how - in Siddharth Soni's closing keynote - authorship, authority, and intellectual labour are being reconfigured
1/ We did it.. the first ever Copim community conference ... done! Approx 250 people joining on and offline, over two days, with delegates representing every continent and 49 countries. Inevitably our discussions centred on the futures of #OAbooks...
2/ ... but they also extended wider to include the place of scholarly knowledge in open publishing, what doing accessibility for books really looks like in practice, and how -- in Siddharth Soni's closing keynote -- authorship, authority, and intellectual labour are being reconfigured.
To paraphrase @rupertgatti.bsky.social: ‘We have the important principle of ‘scaling small’. But to get to that point, you have to start. Start small. But have your ambitions to the roof.’

With Open Book Collective funding there was the potential for a coordinated intervention to build more integrated diamond OA infrastructure @openbookcollective.bsky.social #copimconference
Fatimah J. Abduldayan from Nigeria Maritime University describes the structural constraints of a print-first publishing strategy across Nigerian institutions. Lack of metadata sharing really restricts the global visibility & discoverability of their authors’ research. #CopimConference #OpenAccess
N8 Statement on Sustainable Scholarly Publishing is an important milestone in bringing different universities together to agree that scholarly publishing models must deliver value for money & to encourage publishers to move towards fairly priced, open access & value-added publishing #copimconference
