I've just realised that the reason I've spent the last three days watching nothing but video analysis of "A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms" is probably because it helps me block out everything else that's happening in the world.

I've seen a couple of "AI Agent" ads now where people are sitting in these huge, completely empty rooms because they don't need other people any more.

And sometimes the camera will change angles to show empty corners, emphasising how very alone they are.

And it just makes me very sad :(

I've been listening to some Amyl and the Sniffers myself.

Some people putting up signage that says "Before you go in the water, check if it's safe to swim at lawa.co.nz".

It's the messaging, "at your own risk".

It carries implications of "you're on your own" and "I guess if you really want to do this we're not going to stop you".

The messaging on the actual signage is way better.

(admittedly it appears to be RNZ who used the phrase "at your own risk", not Little)

Seriously though I think part of the problem is that the advice is "Wellingtonians can swim in beaches at own risk" and not "Wellington beaches are now safe to swim in".

It implies that there is still risk. And given that the risk is poop, I'm a bit grossed out by people choosing to take that risk.

I'm surprised! But only because I had expected the sensible voice to be Graeme Edgeler 😁

I just gave a huge Gen Z Stare to my Gen Z coworker (he was asking if I use "Jipiti" and I had no idea what he was on about).

Gen Z: the sender and receiver of blank stares.

She's resonating for me because I grew up with all my managers being Gen X types who think that struggle necessarily requires suffering.

It's liberating to see a younger person stuggle on their own terms, find joy in this empowerment and still overcome the odds.

I generally avoid violent imagery or wishing harm on people.
