Theoretisch sollte es illegal sein. Aber das Konversionsbehandlungsschutzgesetz von Jens Spahn ist vorsätzlich so formuliert, dass eine juristische Durchsetzung des Verbots nahezu ausgeschlossen ist. Bis heute gab es keine Verurteilung, obwohl zahlreiche Fälle existieren.
