On this, I would add that one normally checks and/or triangulates the work of research assistants.
And further, the best models are probably more reliable than the median research assistant. But never the less, you should treat them the same way.
I was not entirely sure what you meant. But as noted elsewhere, there seems to be a growing zero tolerance of AI for doing anything in a research context. Which I disagree with.
I didn't mean to suggest this was your view. Just trying to participate in the wider conversation.
Depends on whether you are checking things.

I assume you need to check and triangulate everything. Otherwise you are being irresponsible.
So, if you are checking things, this is not so much a problem.
If you are not checking things, then yes, it is a big problem.
I'm not arguing for the sake of arguing (despite the appearance). There are lots of things you can use AI for in a research context (wo data). Writing code. Editing an abstract. Searching for references. Bouncing ideas of off. Some people advocate a blanket AI ban. That is not reasonable IMO.
28.02.2026 03:17 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Well it also depends on what you mean by data. There's lots of research uses that do not invlove analyzing or intereting data. At least research data.
28.02.2026 00:45 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Well, a lot depends you what you mean by "using an LLM for research or professional work". This could mean hundreds of different things.
