I feel like we’ve had too much of this type of polling with entirely too little curiosity into the details. You can show that x number of people disapprove of Congress. But the WHY is pretty damn important. TELL US WHY! Is the reason for their dislike unified or is it divided? Along what lines?

Right track/Wrong track polling is absolute horseshit if you’re not breaking down what gives the respondents that perception.

Someone should start asking why we’re hearing and seeing Stephen Miller so much all of a sudden.

I don’t think it helps that I’m still kind of getting established in the Twin Cities and don’t have a core close few friends with whom to just geek out about stuff and riff off each other. And I just don’t enjoy learning things when I don’t have people to bounce it off of.

I hope we get another chance, but honestly, we had as good a chance as ever to fucking break the Republican Party AND have smart, responsive leadership as

Hillary Clinton would likely have been a very good President. Joe Biden was probably the best President of my lifetime and with our support we could have had lasting progressive change. Kamala Harris, much like Hillary Clinton, has all the things I look for in a President.

You know what I DON’T look forward to? Us trying goofy-ass shit that ends up with us having leaders resigning and having to have new elections every other damn month. Swinging wildly in the breeze and never having any damn stability.

So we have those who aren’t MAGA. We have dedicated Democrats. Then we have the people who are united by trashing the Democrats. And what unifies that constituency? Around what can they coalesce? Maybe I lack imagination, but I don’t see the “coalition” there that puts together a strong plurality.

There isn’t a magical alternative to the Democratic Party. Nobody else ever runs a viable candidate. And most of the Democrats are in there just trying to do what their constituents send them there to do. Make laws in an effort to make this country a more just, livable, and equitable place to live.
