Olive is the chonky laziness of the week after Christmas. Wild hair. Eating lots. Doing little. #catsofbluesky

When you rescue a cat who was matted & ignored you spoil her.
This is Chunky’s first stocking. #catsofbluesky

So true, even when they’re no longer with us. She is quite proud of her long locks (covers up her belly πŸ˜‚). Monty looks so incredibly soft.

It sure is. I’d never seen this before until my cat Olive started to do it. I can’t tell if it’s because her nose is cold, the room is too bright, or just that she loves the smell of her cat-hands (best phrase). We don’t deserve them.

It's John Milton's birthday! We are lucky to look after a copy of the original issue of his 'Lycidas' (part of a 1638 collection of poems marking the death of Edward King), with corrections & additions in Milton's own hand. Find out more on our Digital Library. cudl.lib.cam.ac.uk/view/PR-ADV-...

Yes. I started to feel this way for the first time this term as I hit 9 AI plagiarized papers (had as many as 7/25). Now find myself thrilled/relieved to see poor grammar & simple ideas. Hurray, they didn’t cheat! is not a phrase I thought I’d be excited about. Demoralizing indeed.

There’s an amazing 19C copy of her letters in the rare books collection at Regent College, BC. A post I wrote about the text:

Two biscuits stacked on top of one another, designed to look like a rotating diagram from an early modern astronomical book. The lower biscuit is circular and features a series of horizontal lines and tiny numbers in an early modern font. The top biscuit is roughly in the shape of boat: the 'mast' area reads 'zenith'; the main body of the shape features tiny figures in historical dress holding astronomical instruments and a Latin motto reading 'Nulla dies sine linea'.

Centuries ago, many astronomical books included moving parts to help readers interpret the world around them.

This biscuit recreates a diagram from Sacrobosco’s β€˜De Sphaera’ (c.1550). It could be used to calculate the changing length of daylight hours through the year. πŸͺ

Huge shelves with books behind a glass wall

Intrigued by the People’s Bookshelf at the National Library of Latvia. Each book in the collection has been donated by a member of the public and is inscribed by its former owner, telling a personal story relating to the book.
