Our family loved the Frog & Toad series, Beverly Cleary series (Ramona etc.), The Peter Rabbit Collection, plus some of Roald Dahl (Fantastic Mr. Fox was a fave).

Following the Ward 1 public trustee debate I’m even more confused about this endorsement. Ms Hart seems very inexperienced compared to others’ w/ education governance experience (eg. Regal). Tagging two knowledgeable Calgarians for your perspective, pls @hollyhoye.bsky.social @missgiven.bsky.social

This is so true, especially if you grew up in Calgary! I always say there’s one degree of separation here (not 6).

As a Ward 1 resident, I am curious about this endorsement as Ms Hart seems to have less experience in educational governance than at least two other seemingly progressive candidates (Regal and Doell). Can you please provide more context as to why Calgary’s Future has chosen Ms Hart over others?

You could check out the BUMP Murals around town (self guided or walking tour). Hit up shops and eateries in Inglewood, Bridgeland, 17th Ave. My faves include pints at the Ship & Anchor or Central Taps, burgers at Class Clown, cocktails at Proof or Prosperity + plant-forward eats at 10 Foot Henry!

Is a Referendum a Good Way to Make a Decision? - Alberta Views A dialogue between Ted Morton and Jared Wesley

Do referendums generate respectful debate, genuine dialogue, and valid outcomes the way Danielle Smith suggests?

Seldom, if ever.

In my debate with Ted Morton, I showed how they’re often a politician’s tool of convenience—and often backfire. 🧵

"Calgary needs more trees—let's plant them!"

We agree! And we love being a part of a community that cares in this way. Thank you Calgary Climate Hub and Alberta Ecotrust Foundation for creating such a great resource!

We can't wait to see the change it brings.

Hey, as a librarian I need to tell you:

Our funding depends on usage.

So go ahead and check out that book even if you don't think you'll finish it. No one will know. Check out that DVD even though you might not like it. Get ambitious in your quest for knowledge.

Despite the rain, my entire family is so stoked to see @thebandcake.bsky.social tonight at @calgaryfolkfest.bsky.social. A perfect choice to close out a magical festival weekend. Our dream set list includes Never There, Love You Madly, Sad Songs & Waltzes, and - a cover - War Pigs to honour Ozzy.🤘

Finally it’s #peony season here in zone 3! I found this stunner in our neighbourhood botanical gardens.

An Open Letter to Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Who Thinks My Daughter is a Tragedy Dear Mr. RFK Jr., (The “dear” is tradition. Don’t mistake it for affection.) You said autistic children are a burden. That they ruin families. That...

This is a really beautiful piece from @mcsweeneys.net about the inherent value of neurodivergent people. RFK Jr. is dead wrong in the way he demeans and diminishes people with autism.

You should try Jaffa Cakes. Jelly Tots, any kind of “squash” (a drink for kids), flapjack, and any number of deep fried items (Mars bars!) in Scotland.

We used gentle scenarios for our sensitive kid at a young age. Like, “If I hurt my leg and I can’t walk” or “if Grandma fell down and bumped her head”. We also taught her to dial 911 (we are old + have a landline which allows dispatch to track exact location if the kid can’t say the address).

Looks like someone took it upon themselves to update the product descriptions in at least one Toronto location.

These numbers are especially interesting since, as I understand it, any current ANDP members are also automatically federal NDP members. So many progressive Albertans were unable to vote in the LPC leadership contest.

I’d love if LPC & NDP were to run 1 qualified candidate in a few key ridings. 👀

The very first decoupling from America we should do is not allow Canadian media to be majority owned by Americans anymore, it would change a lot.
