Looking it up it did have an official release but you're right, i should assume they're more of a rarity than the norm like most of latin america, but they're not super common in general

it's one of those things that's great to use if you happen to already own them, the official adaptor was only made for smash bros and even with an unofficial one gc controllers arent exactly the most common thing ever, id imagine less so over there even if the gc had an official brazilian release

i wouldn't say sega hardware is particularly unreliable but it seems i hit the fucking jackpot of hardware failures with this dreamcast i bought 10 years ago
