Liberals didn’t codify women’s bodily autonomy when they had a chance. Do they also consider the majority of the population a fringe group undeserving of protection? Why would anyone trust them for protection now?

Enough people did have sympathy, though, that it was taught to my generation in school as a defining political moment. You can’t get everyone on your side, but you also don’t need to.

Damn. That’s exactly it. β€œThis hierarchy is off” is not the same as opposing oppression. Thank you.

I’m sorry I assumed you weren’t. A lil hypervigilant bc too many people like debating my humanity on the internet.

I’m familiar with it. It in no way conflicts with the idea of social illness.

07.10.2025 15:17 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

The idea of social illness does not negate that they’re just people. Because unlike mental illness, social illness does not have any inborn component. It removes that separation and does not conflict with the β€œjust people” argument.

Do you think mentally ill people aren’t just people? When we stopped categorizing people who do evil as evil, people started calling it mental illness. People not going to stop categorizing behavior. I’d prefer they do it in a way that doesn’t harm vulnerable people.

We need a concept of social illness (such as collective narcissism) separate from mental illness. Because if Nazis and bulemics are in the same category, we have a category problem.

If your moral framework is β€œmight makes right,” supporting bullies makes complete sense. Better that the untermenschen learn their place early.

I, like Bad Bunny, am a native-born US citizen not born in one of the 50 states. (I’m from DC.) I wonder why people assume he’s foreign, but not that I am. It’s a mystery…

Nonviolent movements work when they can present themselves to the oppressors as a β€œsane” alternative to the real or perceived threats of violent movements. No one learns that in school.

Are you in the Fediverse? It’d be a shame to lose you completely.

And that’s totally fair. I just think it would be easier to discern what people really want in a context with more socially sanctioned options. They might well have ended up here anyway, but they’d have more choice.

Yes, 100%, but also, if we dealt with our social taboos around ENM, otherwise perfectly good marriages could continue (if everyone involved was cool with it).

Other than the first sentence, is any of that not already happening? And if the country doesn’t split, do you really think we’re ever going to heal into one country and function again after this without the modern equivalent of a denazification campaign that half the country will never accept?
