That era is something I've hardly played stuff in at all, I'm 21 so it's very before my time, lol
Most of what I play is 90's and 2000's, though I do play some 80's and some more recent stuff too

the only consolation to me is my hope that it will bring about a golden age of indie games at the end of it; a return of games that mean something, made for players by people who like games, instead of games afraid to say anything made for stockholders and corporations

unfortunately as far as I know the only way to fix this is to spend some time every day doing nothing, maybe look at a wall or the ground, for like 15 minutes at least every day, increasing over time
which when you're at that point is a horrid experience, but it's really the only way
bite them as hard as you can

though I do deeply hate the aforementioned movie with all my heart due to the mentioned pro-eugenics aspect of it
Then I would highly recommend! MG1 is a lighter experience than the Solid games imo, and the plot of MGS will hit harder having played MG2! Also, in my opinion MG2 is the greatest 8-bit game ever made, so I'd highly recommend it!
If your version of MGS3 is Substance, then you already have both games
