Here are some questions we've received about the planned expansion of Metro Rail into Amherst! 🚈

🧑‍🦽 Riders using mobility devices and wheelchairs, leaving Canalside or Seneca Station heading outbound to Layfette or Fountain Plaza Station, will need continue to Allen Station and transfer to the inbound train.

🧑‍🦽 Riders using mobility devices and wheelchairs, leaving DL&W and heading to Layfette or Fountain Plaza Station, will need to board the last rail car.

🚨 BRIEF SINGLE TRACKING 🚨

⌚ From 10 a.m. to Noon, rail passengers boarding the train at Lafayette and Fountain Plaza stations will need to board on the inbound side of the tracks. During this time, trains should be expected to arrive and leave each of these stations every 20 minutes.

⌚ Runners will gather at Louisiana and O'Connell at 10 a.m. before proceeding north on Louisiana at 11 a.m. Louisiana St. and South Park Ave. will be closed until approximately 3 p.m.

🚨 SHAMROCK RUN 🚨

☘️ On Saturday, March 7, approximately 5,000 runners will be taking part in the annual Shamrock Run in Buffalo. This will affect Metro bus routes 14 (Abbott), 16 (South Park), 18 (Jefferson), and 42 (Lackawanna).

🚏 Additionally, there is a minor route modification at Grand Island Boulevard and Sheridan Drive. Preview new schedules for all routes with changes now at metro.nfta.com.

🚨METRO ROUTE 35 CHANGE 🚨

🚏 With the start of new schedules on March 1, Metro Bus Route #35 will serve Two Mile Creek Road and E. Park Drive between Ensminger Road and Pirson Parkway.

No, this isn't a post about fares, but it's fair for us to let you know...new Metro schedules take effect on Sunday, March 1! 🚌🚈

Above-ground rail service resumes today! 😊

The return of above-ground rail service has been delayed by one day. Above-ground service will now return on Monday, February 23.

As a reminder, free shuttle bus service is currently available south of Allen Station. 🚌

FYI: The above-ground train will be back in service on Sunday. This is being done to accomodate the removal of the bridge over Main near Eagle.

In the meantime, a free shuttle bus is offering rides.

🚨 #UPDATE - DELAVAN STATION ELEVATORS ARE BACK 🚨

Following the reopening of Delavan Station earlier this week, the elevators are now back in service, as well.

To ensure representation and accessibility for all neighborhoods along Bailey Ave, NFTA has hired community members as ambassadors for our BRT project. 🤝

The project is expected to result in over 11 million fewer automobile miles traveled annually, improve regional transit system effectiveness, and support sustainable economic growth through increased transit-oriented development. 🚆

As part of the project, NFTA-Metro is proposing to expand high-capacity transit service approximately 7 miles from the current terminus at the Metro Rail University Station on the UB South Campus to Tonawanda and Amherst, including connections to the UB North Campus. 🛤️

The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) has issued the Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS) and Record of Decision (ROD) for the NFTA-Metro Transit Expansion Project, marking the conclusion of the federal environmental review process and a major milestone in advancing the project. 🙌

#UPDATE The Route 3 winter re-route will be discontinued starting Wednesday, February 11. Regular service will resume.
