Chapter 3 - Pages 1-4

Well, that's annoying. After I spend a good chunk of time writing out the alt text for Chapter 3 and hit upload, all of the images were black for some reason. I don't feel like writing all of the alt text out again, sorry.

The first panel shows Kiryu looking disappointed as he says "I was told you were something special! You're just a common elemental type, an Eye of Hellfire user! I'll have you know... I've already obtained four Eyes just like yours in the past! Do you really think YOU'LL fare better than the others?! The second panel shows Kirin looking determined as flames surround his fist. He says "Yes, because I'm fighting for more than just myself, and more than just Hime! I'm fighting for the sake of all innocent Beholders who are denied aid! I won't let you Eye Hunter bastards take away our Light!" The third panel shows Kiryu recoiling in disgust as he says "Ugh, how cringey. How can you say stuff like that without being embarrassed?!" The fourth panel shows flames shooting from Kirin's hand as he shouts "Take this!"

The first panel shows the flames dissipating around Kiryu without hurting him. The second panel shows Kirin looking shocked as he says "What?! But... how?!" The third panel shows Kiryu showing off his gauntlet as he says "This isn't just for show, you know. It was designed by my father, and not only can it be used as a weapon, but it can negate the powers of Beholders. Isn't technology just wonderful? Not that you savages would know anything about it." The fourth panel shows Kirin forming a fireball in his hand while he thinks "If that's how it works, then I'll use this... it's a bit risky, but it should get past his defenses!"

The first panel shows Kirin throwing the fireball as he shouts "Fly!" The second panel shows Kiryu's gauntlet hand outstretched as he smiles. He says "I knew you lot were stupid, but come on... I already showed you it wouldn't work..." The third panel shows the fireball suddenly changing directions. The fourth panel shows the fireball about to hit Kiryu in the face, but he's smiling and says "Oh. I see." The fifth panel shows blood trickling down from Kirin's mouth as he reels from the pain and says "Ahhh!"

The first panel shows Kiryu is completely unscathed by Kiryu's attack as he says "That was a clever trick. You infused a fragment of your soul into your flame so you could control it mid trajectory. I've never seen a Hellfire user do that. Unfortunately for you... I'm the worst opponent you could have used that on. The second panel shows Hime shouting concern as she shouts "Kirin! Are you OK?!" while Kirin wipes the blood from his mouth with his hand as he responds "I'm fine, Hime. Was just a surprise, is all. I still have plenty of fight in me!" He then thinks "What the Hell did he do to extinguish my soul flame?! It should have hit him!" The third panel shows a red aura surrounding Kirin as he says "If ranged attacks don't work, then I'll just have to engage you straight on!"

An except from the Eye Hunters Manual titled Basic History 02. The Creation of the Eye Hunters It reads as follows: "The relationship between Humans and Beholders was strained, with many Humans fearing Beholders. This came to a head in the year 2350 AD when a man bearing an Eye that would be called the Eye of Destruction appeared and went on a killing spree. In the Humans effort to suppress the killer, the Beholder lost control of his power. This caused the destruction of New Hope City, killing countless people, including the Beholder. Needing order in the chaos, Humans created the Eye Hunters Organization to prevent such a tragedy from happening again."

Chapter 2 - Bonus Page

Kirin smiles brightly while Hime has a hand to her mouth as she laughs. Kirin: You're our light, Hime. You've saved so many lives, and I won't let the Eye Hunters snuff it out. Hime: My hero. We should get going if we hope to make the next settlement by nightfall. Hime is shown playfully punching Kirin's arm. Kirin grasps his arm. Hime: I *can* take care of myself too, you know. I may not like fighting, but I can if I need to. Kirin: Ow. yeah, I know. Still, my powers are one of the few ways I can be useful to you. Hime looks a bit sad, while Kirin is more solemn. Hime: You're plenty helpful even when you're not fighting. You help ground me. So don't belittle yourself like that. You're the only family I have, after all. Kirin: I know. But, you could have hired more bodyguards, you know. Plenty of us would be willing to die to protect you. Hime looks displeased to hear that as she whispers to herself. Hime: You think that makes me happy hearing that?

Kirin looks confused as he couldn't hear what she said, while Hime seems nonchalant. Kirin: You say something? Hime: Don't worry about it. It's more fun just travelling with my brother instead of worrying about other people. Kirin smiles. Kirin: I can respect that. Someone is shown spying on Hime and Kirin from afar with a binocular like device. Kirin: Aren't you tired? We've been going all day, and we have to pass through that small mountain to get to the next village. Hime: I'm fine, Kirin. I can rest once we get there. Kiryu is wickedly grinning. Only his lower side profile of his face is shown. Kiryu: Kukuku... the intel was correct...

Kiryu is shown looking down at a pocket watch. Kiryu: Even their timing is... Kiryu's full face is shown as he smiles. Kiryu: Impeccable. Kirin looks defensive as he raises an arm to stop Hime from advancing. Hime looks confused, while Kiryu laughs from off screen. Kiryu: Kukukuku... Hello... Prey! Hime: Who is...? Kirin: Y-You're...

Kiryu is seen sitting a rock, his claw gauntlet on the ground in front of him. Kirin speaks from off screen. Kirin: Kiryu... the Eye of Destruction...! Kiryu points a finger gun at them as he smiles. Kiryu: So glad you've heard of me. Cuts back on those pesky introductory speeches.

Chapter 2 - Pages 17-20

Still in the flashback, Kirin tries to remain calm while holding Hime close to him, still out of sight. Kirin: Hime... Mom's... going on a trip for awhile. But I'll take care of you, OK? Hime: Mom's... going away...? Kirin and Hime are shown crying as Hime bawls. Hime: Waaaaaaahhhh!! Back in the present, Kirin still leans against a wall. Kirin (thinking): We never saw Mom again... I'm sure she would be proud of us though.

An injured Beholder man speaks with Hime in the clinic from a patient bed. Man: I hear you can fix anything. Can you restore my arm? Hime: Oh my. yes, I can. But I'll need to look through your memories for it. May I? Man: My memories? Is that how your powers work? Sure, if that's what you need to do. Hime: Yes. Simple wounds I can fix without doing so, but to restore something bigger like a missing arm requires me to shape it into existence from your memories. We are shown the man's missing arm is being restored by Hime's powers. The man marvels at his restored arm. Man: Wow. You really did it. This is my old arm alright!

The man is now seen sitting on the bed, while Hime questions him. Hime: You're a Rebel... aren't you? Man: Yes. I'm part of a resistance group known as the Beholder Liberation Front. Have you considered joining a Resistance group? We could really use someone with your powers! Hime: Sorry, I'm not really interested in fighting. And too many people need me. Thank you for the offer, though. The man stands up and whispers in Hime's ear. Man: I understand. But if you change your mind... The man is shown leaving as he waves. Man: Just come to that location and say that password. It was nice meeting you! Kirin leans against the wall as Hime stares off. Kirin: Another recruitment attempt, huh? Hime: Yeah. From what I saw in his memories, it's an interesting group, at least.

Kirin stares off as Hime looks at him a bit surprised. Kirin: ...I've thought about it. Sometimes. Hime: Joining a resistance group? Kirin looks a bit angry. Kirin: We're trapped in this Hell. You've seen how the Human cities look in comparison. It's practically paradise there. Meanwhile, we're treated like dirt. With the Eye Hunters "keeping us in line." Things won't change if we do nothing. Hime looks a bit annoyed as she glances at him. Hime: If you want to join, I can try to find a new bodyguard. I don't want to stand in the way of your dream. Kirin is shown looking defensive as his anger dissipates. Kirin: No, no, no! You and the work we do together comes first! I'm just saying I understand where they are coming from.

Chapter 2 - Pages 13-16

The young Kirin points forward. Kirin: Mom! Is that...? The mother is shown picking up the baby Hime. We can see she has a Beholder Eye, but it's white, a bit like Hime's. Mother: Hey, little one. You're safe now. Kirin tugs at his Mom's skirt while she looks at him, still holding the baby. Kirin: Hey Mom... is she like me? Did somebody... really abandon her? Mom: It seems that way... unfortunately that can often be the case for us. But I must say, I've never seen an Eye like hers before... Kirin: Really? It looks a lot like yours. Mom: A bit, but hers is a purer white than mine. Hopefully hers has actually powers unlike mine.

The young Kirin smiles. Kirin: Mom, can you adopt her as well? I've always wanted a sister! The mom smiles as she looks down at the baby in her arms. Mom: Of course, just like when I found you, I wasn't going to leave her for someone else to take care of. Young Kirin is shown holding the baby, the baby's pure white Beholder Eye being more visible here. Kirin: Yay! You hear that, Hime?! You're going to be my sister! Mom: Hime? Kirin: Sorry... I suddenly came up with that name... I thought it suited her. She looks so pure, like her Eye... Even though she's just a baby, she still reminds me of a Princess... Mom: It's a fine name. Hime it shall be.

Back in the present, Hime is looking after an injured man, while Kirin continues to reminisce. Kirin (thinking): That name I gave you back then... It certainly suits you. In a way, you've become royalty to us. Kirin looks angry as he grits his teeth, reminded of a painful memory. Kirin (thinking): I have to keep her safe from those damned Hunters. Hime was only 8 at the time, so she doesn't remember as much as I do and I shielded her from the worst of it. We are shown a flashback from 10 years ago. A 13 year old Kirin is shown holding an 8 year old Hime close to him from around a corner while their Mom is speaking with an Eye Hunter. Kirin: Don't look, Hime... Stay with me... Hime: Ok...? What's going on...? Kirin: Shhhh

A cocky looking Eye Hunter without an Eye Patch is speaking with Kirin and Hime's Mom, who looks scared. Eye Hunter: How nice of you to come forward when called. That'll make your sentence lighter. Do you live alone? Mom: I live alone. May I ask what I'm being charged with? Eye Hunter: I don't know if I believe that, but you're the only one we're after today. We've detected that you have an unusual Eye, one that could become too dangerous for us Humans. So we'll need to make sure you're safe. Once we're satisfied, if you cooperate, you'll be released. Mom: I'll admit I have an unusual Eye, but it doesn't do anything. I don't even bother with an eye patch because I have nothing to suppress. The Eye Hunter is shown placing the Mom in the back of an Eye Hunter branded paddy wagon. The Eye Hunter logo is an eye with a sideways line through the iris. Eye Hunter: We'll be the judge of that. Get in.

Chapter 2 - Pages 9-12

Hime smiles as she stands up and puts her hands near the girl, her hands glowing. Hime: Fix you? There's nothing wrong with your brain. You're not the first I've encountered. Luckily for you though, I can work a miracle that can fix what truly ails you. The trans girl grasps their throat as they realize their voice is more feminine now. Trans Girl: W-What?! My voice... The girl hugs Hime, looking extremely happy while Hime places a hand on her back and smiles. Hime: You'll have to grow out your hair and change your clothes on your own, but I've given you a body that aligns with you brain. Are you satisfied? Trans Girl: Yes! A thousand times, yes!

The pig tailed girl and the trans girl are seen happily playing together. A young man with an eye patch and light coloured hair wearing a cross, a black jacket and white pants with a dark undershirt is seen with his arms crossed, while Hime glances back at him. Kirin: Seeing your powers in action never fails to amaze me. Healing a broken leg as if it was never broken is one thing, changing someone's sex is another. Hime: It's not like I can do that at will. It only worked because it was the only way to heal her. I can't fix what's not broken, after all, Kirin. Kirin then addresses her more seriously, while Hime looks solemn. Kirin: Well, if you're done playing with the kids, you do have a shift at the actual clinic. That was why we came here, sis. Hime: I know. I wish I could be in multiple places at once. That boy who broke his leg, if I hadn't been in the area, that broken leg could have caused him serious damage. That girl would have suffered in silence for years until it may have eventually killed her.

The two siblings are shown walking together as they talk. Hime: And those are just the ones I could save. Countless more die without the healthcare the Humans deny us... Kirin: If it weren't for those Eye Hunter bastards, you wouldn't have to push yourself so hard. They deny us what are basic rights for Humans because they are afraid of us. We aren't even given a chance. Hime smiles as she glances at Kirin, who is less angry now. Hime: It's OK. I know I can't stay in one place for long, but seeing the happy faces of those I help, saving those that I can, knowing I can make a difference in our world... That's enough for me. I know travelling with me everywhere can be a lot... Thanks for sticking with me. Kirin: Hey, it's the duty of the big brother to look after his little sister! And you're all I have left, so I wouldn't abandon you for anything.

We are shown the inside of the clinic, where Hime is working. Kirin is standing guard, leaning against the wall, as he reminisces. Kirin (thinking): We may not be blood related, Hime, but we were adopted by the same mother... I still remember the day I met you... It was probably one of my earliest memories... We are shown a flashback from 18 years ago. A mother and a young Kirin are shown walking down a road while a baby Hime is lying on the road ahead of them.

Chapter 2 - Pages 5-8

Two young boys wearing eye patches are seen playing with a makeshift soccer ball. One of the boys trips and badly injures his leg. Boy: "O-owwww... m-my leg...I think it's brokennnn, wahhhh! Someone with white lace up shoes is shown. ???: Mind if I help?

Hime, the girl shown on the chapter cover, is shown bending down, a glow emanating from her hands as they hover just above the boy's injured leg. She smiles at him. Hime: There. Feel better? Now do be careful next time, you were lucky I was in the area this time! The boy stands up, happy. Boy: T-Thank you, Ms. Hime! Wow, you're as amazing as they say! It doesn't hurt at all! It's like the injury never happened!

A crowd of children is shown gathering around Hime. A young girl with pig tails and an eye patch pleads with her. Girl: Ms. Hime... They say your powers can heal anything... Could you even help my friend? Hime: Well, I can certainly try! Where are they? Hime bends down to address a young depressed boy with an eye patch wearing dark clothing sitting on a bench. Hime: Hello there! Your friend wanted to see if I could help you. What ails you?

The boy has his eye closed, looking sad. Boy: ...I don't think you can heal me... unless you can fix what's wrong with my brain... Hime outstretches a glowing hand, and seems surprised by what she sees. Hime: Your brain? Let me see... Oh! That explains it! Hime leans in close, smiling at the child as the child cries, a tear streak coming from under their eye patched eye. Hime: You're not actually a boy at all... are you? Trans Girl: H-How... Why... C-can you... fix me...?
