Oggi Ojalá si addentra tra le parole per parlare di relazioni in italiano e spagnolo, affronta la scala mobile relazionale e anche l’idiosincrasia con cui evito le parole “moglie” e “marito” per parlare di me. 😬

Mi piace perché pareja parla di relazione pari tra due parti, ma anche perché è una parola neutra, non connotata per genere.

Qualunque sia il tuo orientamento sessuale, dire "mi pareja" ti permette di confondere le acque dell’eteronormatività.

Una delle mie parole preferite in spagnolo è pareja: viene dal volgare *paricŭlus, che ha a sua volta origine nel latino par, paris, cioè 'uguale', oltre che 'insieme di due persone o cose'.

In italiano la traduciamo come "compagna-o" o "partner".

Un'imprecisione che mi ha sorpreso molto. Le parole contano, quanto dobbiamo ribadirlo?

La scrittrice Elif Shafak, per esempio, riesce a raccontarlo con meraviglia di dettagli.

The feeling of being perpetually pissed off at the world has its valid reasons, i.e.:

Too bad I then end up complaining about the USA-centric view that primes my socials (mostly true here and on Subastck, it used to be the same on X).

I was noticing how quickly a new social network feed populates with voices from the U.S.

It is not a choice I consciously make, but there is certainly a bias behind it, as well as the great privilege of being able to read English to broaden my views and seek out "other voices."
