this feels like a guy who's making a '''''clever''''' Douglas Adams reference when the real Adams would literally microwave him to death with a single joke

It’s brilliant because instead of staking out a position on Greedo, it muses what happened to Greedo NOT EVEN MATTER when it comes to defining Han’s personality.

β€œYou made the smart move.”

Bush and Cheney killed a million people and Harris called his endorsement an honor. The profiteer architect of a war we all marched against. She was screaming into a megaphone that she and her party had no fixed values and everyone I know *still* voted for her. What more do you want from us.

It’s also funny that the dad is an identical part in both movies, but per his Random Roles interview the actor seems to not have ever grasped that at all.

And this is Lucasfilm, and the elder Kasdan wrote EMPIRE! That’s just the last person to go head to head with about Han Solo, in THAT company.

I thought the Kasdans had an interesting perspective on it. Basically, they had a movie, but L&M were improv-ing their script out of functionally, like, existing.

I’d personally like to speak to him about the astounding level of fatphobia in Wall-E (for which he wrote the screenplay) and the harms that caused, if he’s worried about messaging to children that’s *actually* harmful

my theory of the Harris campaign, which makes exactly nobody happy:

1. she was put in an incredibly deep and arguably insurmountable hole by Biden

2. she made significant errors, largely in not separating herself from him enough

3. her results were still in the upper range of plausible outcomes

the plot of having to bring out Megatron to keep up with him is so instantly compelling (even if it's not exactly flattering to the Autobots!)

half an hour of plot in an hour

and it's ALL on the guest stars to show the emotion because the 1701 crew knows what's up from the jump

"yeah yeah, you touched the sky, we've all seen it"

the only time in the entire fictional history of the Transformers that Ultra Magnus has been Commander-class

the dumbest form of politics is yelling at voters after you lose. if you lose it is *always* your fault. every confounding factor in the universe is your job to overcome. if you take a position that is unpopular and don't adjust to learning that, you are bad at running for office.

So according to the WSJ a US Senator conspired with another country to manipulate the US into starting a war, am I getting this right

I was at the Houston natural history museum the other day and you see dinosaurs in one room then turn a corner and see the mammoths and the part of my brain that knows that fact was screaming at the rest of it

Real lesson is that the prehistory / history barrier is different in different places…

07.03.2026 15:57 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

The one that breaks me is that the pyramids were built before the mammoth became extinct

The only thing better than stock footage is not even having to use THAT

It is funny how extragalactic stuff pops up in TOS regularly but not the other shows. Hell, when the Barrier shows up in DIS it seems to be *shored up* and no one has pierced it in centuries.

Every lengthy write-up on "lessons learned" after someone lets an AI process delete their database or all their emails reads like this to me

If yall want to fuck a slug because it has abs that is great and I support you but also don’t tell on yourself if you aren’t trying to tell on yourself, okay?

It’s a strange paradox that you might not β€œget away” with this today because it’s so tasteless / extreme / bad for the character, but then you’d lose some of that power.

The Klingon actor (forgetting her name) makes it work too, she redirects the audience sympathy and she plays it very realistically. Thinking of her nervous reactions AFTER she’s rescued (by another man in the same uniform)

You suppose they just had, like, the best day though? No getting beamed into space. No Kirk β€œpretending” to be crazy and getting them shot by Romulans.

β€œOnly a fool fights in a burning house!” is a great resolution, and you can see Kirk try the same logic later on Kruge only for it to bounce off.

Funny thing, Kruge is no one’s fool, but he’s genuinely convinced that the Feds are gonna kill EVERYONE with Genesis. 1980s Cold War, not 1960s Cold War.

Anyway all three actors are amazing but Ansara is the only one who I fully believe would gut Kirk like a fish

Another layer to this was they were all *supposed* to be Kor, but when Colicos was unavailable they just gave him a different name and had Kirk act like he knew him anyway.

Which might be why in DS9 Kor is also treated as a cruiser commander, when we only saw him as a military governor?
