We’re effectively inviting TB to spread unchecked. Every prevented case averts multiple downstream infections — the multiplier we can’t afford to lose.
These aren’t routine budget adjustments; they’re decisions that set the stage for future epidemics.

When prevention is cut, more people are exposed, more infections follow, and the risk of drug resistance grows.
Who loses access most:
● Health workers with frequent exposure

● Children in households affected by TB

● People living with HIV

● People in close contact with someone with TB

Picture this: You’re three months into a six-month regimen, starting to feel better. Then the message arrives: “Program paused.”

Without consistent medicines, monitoring, and support, many don’t complete treatment, resistance can develop, and communities face preventable risk.

Why this is so dangerous:
● Incomplete treatment → higher risk of relapse
● Ongoing transmission in households and communities
● Emergence and spread of drug-resistant TB (including MDR/XDR)
● Avoidable harm and preventable deaths
