Iβm biased, obviously, but I think this is such a vital read for 2026, one vital for understanding the history of Americaβs fraught relationship with migration across its southern border

Jazmine writing her book in our old office beside a wall of notecards
The back cover of the finished book with praise from Lawrence Wright, among others
I had the honor of watching the book evolve from a desire to tell the story of her hometown and establish its rightful place in American history -> research/interviews -> drafts -> to the end result
how it started (the wall of notecards was all for the book) vs how itβs going

happy pub day to my incredibly talented wife @jazmineulloa.bsky.social, with her BRILLIANT new book about her hometown of El Paso, Texas, which she was inspired to write after she covered the deadly 2019 mass shooting carried out there by a white supremacist who opened fire at a wal-mart, killing 23

Love to see Hello Darkness getting a spotlight! I love that it's managed to keep chugging along, and that I get to be a little part of it almost every issue since it began. It's such a wild and varied book, full of quirky unique horrors.

it's good policy, and really i'm not sure introducing myself when unnecessary has ever caused any added awkwardness...much more likely to happen when you don't do it

A really slow year (years, honestly) has left me feeling more than a bit invisible and lost in this business. So I'd like to take a moment to reintroduce myself, remind you I'm here, and show you what I do.
Hey there! I'm Vince and I draw comics. And doing that is all I want in the world.
i'm so bad about that, but have finally started managing to say early in show convos, "i uh think we maybe know each other from the internet"

An extraordinary review today.
It recognizes what fronterizos have long known: El Paso isnβt peripheral to the American story. It is the story β of migration, identity, memory, survival.
Deeply honored, grateful, and proud to see the border centered, not sidelined. www.nytimes.com/2026/03/01/b...
All the world is green.
Which might be a problem if you're usually a chalky grey.
This week I take a look at a comic with work by the incredible Tatjana Wood. (Admittedly the extant digital and print versions are probably retouched for production.)
Someone in Anchorageβs Fur Rondy Snow Sculpture competition did the giant, snowman eating, tentacle monster from Calvin & Hobbes and I just have to say: they straight up killed it.

ha, i think so? hard to remember who drawls after a texas wedding...i remember i'd recently moved to sacramento, and he said "I lived there...it's the most boring place i've ever been, and it was exactly what i needed."
which proved true for me as well, so I was like, whoa this guy is profound
