Oh my God.

Standup gigs always used to pay cash when I started, up until about 2010 maybe. Sometimes you'd do a weekend in a Comedy Store type club, four or even five gigs, and walk out with your week's rent in your pockets thinking 'it is very important not to get mugged here'.

Imagine the world we'd now live in if there had been a year's mandatory Civilization as part of the school syllabus.

'Sitting around your kitchen table worrying about the cost of living' - even though it IS a thing people are doing - is a supreme example of a phrase that would be written by a comms team rather than uttered in a real conversation.

Yeah this is a very large school. Six-form entry. Awful lot of people in that London.
