My lukewarm take on world events. An old man in America with far far too much power, and surrounded by opportunistic sycophants, is feeling his capacities slipping away and so is desperately creating as much drama as he can as a way of pretending that he knows what he’s doing.

“You can’t bomb a country into democracy,” says Zack Polanski. The very same words I used myself on BBC’s The Politics Show during the Iraq war. I think we are correct.

As I'm sure you're aware, the fifth of January is the day of the Schnabelperchten, a creature of Austrian folklore who will check your house for cleanliness. If they decide you haven't done a good enough job, they'll slit open your belly and fill it with straw. Happy New Year..!

Agreed. The scenes depicted assume an underlying order and stability, and the 'disruption' represented by the visual mistakes can be instantly corrected simply by being identified.
