It's so nice to read a book written 25 years ago featuring a truly flawed and reprehensible protagonist knowing the author never had to come online and spoon feed the story to readers incapable of not treating fiction like a book of manners

Anyway, BUTTERFLY EFFECTS is book fifteen in the series, but can be read after IMAGINARY NUMBERS and CALCULATED RISKS without losing too much information. Following the same narrator is always a valid choice.

Sarah Tapper still loves Harry Marshall. They just both got new names, and now Sarah Zellaby loves Artie Harrington. But the things that matter have never changed.

People familiar with my music may remember Sarah from a time before the series; she's the narrator for "Phantoms of Summer," "This Is My Town," and "Sycamore Tree."

There have been two new narrators since Sarah's first outing, Grandma Alice in SPELUNKING THROUGH HELL and BACKPACKING THROUGH BEDLAM, and Mary Dunlavy in AFTERMARKET AFTERLIFE and INSTALLMENT IMMORTALITY, and they're all wonderful, and I love them all, but Sarah has my heart.

Which brings us to Sarah. Sweet Sarah Zellaby, adopted, beloved, mathematician, and psychic wasp. Her books are IMAGINARY NUMBERS, CALCULATED RISKS, and now, BUTTERFLY EFFECTS.

...yes, we're resolving some of the broken things we left hanging.

After Alex comes their baby sister, Antimony, who narrates MAGIC FOR NOTHING, TRICKS FOR FREE, and THAT AIN'T WITCHCRAFT.

Our second narrator is her brother Alex, a herpetologist and one of my personal favorites, who gets HALF-OFF RAGNAROK and POCKET APOCALYPSE.

Our first narrator, Verity Price, a cryptozoologist-slash-ballroom dancer, narrates books one, two, and five, DISCOUNT ARMAGEDDON, MIDNIGHT BLUE-LIGHT SPECIAL, and CHAOS CHOREOGRAPHY.

The InCryptid books are spiritually shaped by both Kelley Armstrong's WOMEN OF THE OTHERWORLD and Julia Quinn's BRIDGERTON. We change narrators every few books, following various members of the Price-Healy family through their lives.
