Everyday Americans get nickel and dimed while the rich dodge taxes.

They struggle to get by while the wealth of the 1% skyrockets.

They see their voices drowned out while the well-connected avoid accountability.

There are two sets of rules in America: One for the rich. Another for everyone else.

It can be a bit daunting confronting the fact that if you want to win, you've got to fight -- but the good news is there are LOTS of people out there who want the change you want. Find them, connect with them, collaborate with them & you will all have a much easier time winning change

every β€œzohran mamdani isn’t the future of the democratic party” post always ends with β€œthe future of the party is actually this guy who sucks that only 80 year olds who are about to die think is dope”

even when the democratic party has leverage and one of the craziest election swings the party intentionally self immolates it’s just so exhausting what is even the point of these people

This deal to reopen the government is fucking disgraceful.

Tens of millions will lose their healthcare. Trump will be emboldened.

This is exactly what’s wrong with Democratic Party leadership and why we need more people in Congress who will actually hold the line.

10.11.2025 12:43 β€” πŸ‘ 41379    πŸ” 9165    πŸ’¬ 1396    πŸ“Œ 423

if democrats want to retain any amount of integrity they need to immediately vote out chuck schumer as party minority leader

i think this is key. taking the deal would amount to taking the blame. it would turn a clear political victory into an unambiguous defeat.

I want you to understand what it is like to live in Chicago during this time.

Every day my phone buzzes. It is a neighborhood group: four people were kidnapped at the corner drugstore. A friend a mile away sends a Slack message: she was at the scene when masked men assaulted and abducted two people on the street. A plumber working on my pipes is distraught, and I find out that two of his employees were kidnapped that morning. A week later it happens again.

An email arrives. Agents with guns have chased a teacher into the school where she works. They did not have a warrant. They dragged her away, ignoring her and her colleagues’ pleas to show proof of her documentation. That evening I stand a few feet from the parents of Rayito de Sol and listen to them describe, with anguish, how good Ms. Diana was to their children. What it is like to have strangers with guns traumatize your kids. For a teacher to hide a three-year-old child for fear they might be killed. How their relatives will no longer leave the house. I hear the pain and fury in their voices, and I wonder who will be next.

Understand what it is to pray in Chicago.

Democrats can't defeat Trump-MAGA authoritarianism without an agenda that stands squarely on the side of working people.

We need a pro-worker, pro-democracy, anti-establishment movement that will take on oligarchy like never before.

It starts with the party rejecting Big Money.

A picture of the boardgame "U.S. High Speed Rail" which has an illustration of a high speed rail network map across the United States.

And below it is a copy of the book β€œIf You Want To WIn, You’ve Got To Fight: A Guide To Effective Transportation Advocacy” by Carter Lavin. The words β€œIf you want to win” are in all caps, hunter green blocky font that takes up half the page in the upper left-hand corner. The words β€œYou’ve Got to Fight” are a burnt orange of the same size and font. The words connect diagonally across the page. The words β€œA Guide to effective transportation advocacy” is in black, in smaller font nestled between the block of larger text. Carter’s name is in the lower left corner in black. Behind the words is a stylized, fictionalized metro map that takes up most of the page. The metro map is complex, multi-colored, showing potential expansion plans, transfer stations etc. The book cover background is an off-white. Roughly 6 inches wide, 9 inches tall.

In New Jersey, a single mother struggled to figure out how to feed her two young sons with $50.
In Oklahoma, a 61-year-old woman questioned whether driving to a food pantry was worth the gas money.
And in Colorado, a woman grabbed food from a Walmart dumpster.

What was a good transit service or piece of bike infrastructure that opened up your world when you were younger?

For me the C&O Canal Path and the Capital Crescent Trail helped me feel like I could bike pretty much anywhere when I was in my early teens

The richest man on earth owns X.

The second richest man on earth is about to acquire TikTok and his family could soon own both Paramount and Warner Bros.

The third richest man owns Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp.

The fourth richest man owns The Washington Post.

See the problem here?

β€œSNAP benefits are one of the fastest, most effective forms of economic stimulus because they get money into the economy quickly during a recession.”

You don't have to judge Columbus by the standards of today. His tenure as governor of Hispaniola was so horrific that he was dragged back to Spain in chains to answer for his many crimes.

Plus he never set foot on any land that would ever be a part of the United States of America.

Electrifying the Coaster would make an Oceanside-San Diego trip 45 minutes, competitive with driving cutting 25% off the travel time. But LOSSAN and CalSTA want to run slow, unreliable hydrogen trains instead! calelectricrail.org/electrolink-...

Also to make it safer, less maintenance intensive, and remove two nasty minimum radius turns. I would've preferred a viaduct or tunnel but this is a good project for not much money.

Not the only reason for BSV2. Soil conditions means cut n cover would likely have to go quite deep anyway, and multiple historic structures near the DTSJ station means they need to avoid damage from subsidence.

And cut n cover for trackways is just not even done anymore for 99% of subways worldwide
