There is just so any options, I'm afraid you'd have try and find what works for him. Supplements, maybe hydration, too, a fountain so he drinks more, different kinds of food etc

Vet should be able to give more options :( Maybe some "holistic" foods would work? Some of them have higher fiber and lower carbs than vet food

TLDR: cats do not need carbs at all, and even though they eat 200 calories, they get them mostly from carbs. What they need is protein, preferably animal based. That would leave them most satiated during the day.

Alsom might as well try Pro plan Calming care (gut stuff) as a supplement.

Also, not all cats really need 200 calories, despite what packages say. Our cat turned out to be great on only 150, she's at a healthy weight, and nice balance between muscles and fat. You have to figure it out with your vet.

We ended up using Ziwi dry food, it has mush less carbs than regular AND vet diet foods. There is even better one, Youngagain Zero. Both are very good for maintaining and losing weight. Vet diets are not, ironically. Wet is the best (without grave).

Okay, so, I'm not a vet but my friend is, and she's giving Hills to all her three cats. That being said, most of the dry food is horrible in terms of calories and carbs. After my cat got diabetes last year we had to learn fast what food is actually better, as she doesn't like wet.
