Running for office and revealing a giant back tattoo that just says WOMEN. Nobody can agree if it's good or bad

We have handed the absolute worst people in this nation power and they delight in flaunting their wickedness and cruelty, not least because they think they can turn the world against us and leave us without allies or safe harbor.

They see themselves as our jailors.

Q: My condolences on the loss of your friend Charlie Kirk. How are you holding up?

TRUMP: I think very good. And by the way, right there you see all the trucks. They just started construction of the new ballroom for the White House, which is something they've been trying to get for about 150 years.

“awful people don’t deserve to be killed, but they don’t deserve to be praised, either” is apparently a thought too complex for the pundit mind

Every flashbang could instead be a meal for a poor kid. Every hotel room for a National Guardsman deployed to fire at our neighbors could house a homeless vet. Every "less-than-lethal" bullet pulled from a journalist's eye could be already needed healthcare for anyone else. All of this is a choice.

I'm reading @drjoannepaul.bsky.social's new book on Thomas More and I was really struck by this line: "Those who are willing to destroy anyone who stands in opposition to their will...rule today as they did 500 years ago...The unconstrained power of petty, insecure men remains deeply dangerous."

Yes every conservative social media site becomes a tropical rainforest of school shooters and Ponzi schemes but did you know that there is a left-wing social media site where people are rude to the nation’s center-right political pundits

A bad President, for
instance, has the power to do what? What can he not do? If he wanted to
revolutionize this government, he could easily do it with this ponderous
power; it would be an auxiliary power. He could cry “havoc, and let slip the
dogs of war,”29 and say to the conspirators: “I am with you. If you
succeed, all is well. If you fail, I will interpose the shield of my pardon, and
you are safe. If your property is taken away from you by Congress, I will
pardon and restore your property. Go on and revolutionize the government;
I will stand by you.” The bad man will say or might say this. I am not sure
but we have got a man now who comes very near saying it. Let us have done
with this pardoning power. We have had enough of this. Pardoning! How
inexpressibly base have been the uses made by this power—this beneficent
power. It has been that with which a treacherous President has trafficked.
He has made it the means of securing adherents to himself instead of
securing allegiance to the government.

Many delegates, including Alexander Hamilton, fretted that "one of the weak sides of republics" was their susceptibility "to foreign corruption"; leaders elevated to "stations of great preeminence and power" by the people, Hamilton wrote, may be tempted to abandon their
"obligations of duty," lured by "compensations" from other nations seeking influence. In other words, federal officials could be so entranced by the wealth of foreign leaders, especially monarchs, that they might sell out their own country in exchange for a share of the riches dangled before them. The delegates sought to guard against this existential threat to republican "virtue" by adopting the foreign emoluments clause-unanimously, and without debate.

It is bracing to reread the Framers’ bone-deep fears about foreign corruption of the presidency and realize Trump is exactly what they were trying to prevent. slate.com/news-and-pol...

Pritzker: It’s time for us to be done with optimism about their motives. Time to stop wondering if you can trust the nuclear codes to people who don’t know how to organize a group chat. It’s time to stop ignoring the hypocrisy in wearing a big gold cross while announcing the defunding of children’s cancer research… Autistic kids and adults who are loving contributors to our society don’t deserve to be stigmatized by a weird nepo baby who once stashed a dead bear in his car. Our military service members don’t deserve to be told by a washed-up Fox TV commentator, who drank too much before being appointed Secretary of Defense, that they can’t serve their country simply because they are Black, gay, or a woman.

Opinion | Watching ‘Andor’ Is No Substitute for Actual Resistance I have always found the praise for the show’s revolutionary politics to be at odds with the means of its production.
