She came in a little hot then apologized. She is way better than Zoe and her crowd who just told me my follower count is low, no one listens to my podcast and I look like shit. I do understand her point of view. The teardown on Cabrini was a hot mess and CHA is corrupt.

She was very respectful. She got "radicalized" by the broken promises surrounding Cabrini Green and CHA in general. I don't agree with her politics but I understand. The Jane Byrne stunt alone could push some people over the edge.

the palpable hatred for ICE in every corner of the city is visible with very rudimentary graffiti and tags on every other block in chicago - it’s quite a thing of beauty to be this unified.

From blue line hipsters to Villita day laborers to Wrigleyville business-types to Bubgalow-belt white ethnics, ICE is really bringing this city together with big clouds of choking gas.

It's hard to overstate how fully engaged Chicago and the surrounding suburbs are in this ICE madness. There are neighborhood watch alerts, spontaneous crowds gathering outside schools at pick up & drop off plus madly blowing whistles and honking car horns, this city is fighting back and hard.

Historically, the Chicago impulse to say “you’re not FROM here, you don’t BELONG here, and if you know what’s good for you you’ll get OUT of here” has, um, not usually been a tool used on behalf of anti-racist solidarity, but we’re more flexible people than we’re given credit for

People are fucking pissed. You can intellectually know what’s happening, see the videos, and still be traumatized and shocked when it comes to your block, no matter what community you live in.
