Rev. Jesse Jackson built the Rainbow Coalition as a political home rooted in dignity and solidarity. That struggle continues here in New York City, in every fight for housing, justice, and equality.
Today, we lower our flags in his honor โ and recommit to the movement he called us to build.
I donโt know who needs to hear Jesse Jackson leading the kids on Sesame Street in this beautiful call-and-response reminding them that every child is somebody, but here it is

250 is a K-14 Class 4-6-0 โTen Wheelerโ type steam locomotive built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in October 1910 for use on the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad. In 1920, she and her 9 other sister locomotives were rebuilt as superheated locomotives with piston valves. The K-14โs were nicknamed โcopperheadsโ because of the copper rings around their smokestacks.
250 was primarily used for passenger service between Wilmington and Fayetteville, North Carolina. She served the ACL well for over 40 years, and eventually became the last steam locomotive on the railroadโs active roster, ultimately being retired from revenue service in 1954.
After her retirement in 1954, the ACL set 250 aside for preservation and placed her on static display at their offices in Tampa, Florida. For nearly 30 years, as the ACL became the Seaboard Coast Line, and the SCL became the Seaboard System, 250 sat on static display in Tampa until the Seaboard System donated her to the Wilmington Railroad Museum in Wilmington, North Carolina in 1983.
Today, 250 still remains on static display at the Wilmington Railroad Museum in Wilmington, North Carolina, having recently received another cosmetic restoration for her 115th birthday in the fall of 2025. She and the rest of the museumโs equipment and artifacts help tell the story of Wilmingtonโs past as a major railroad city.

Public pressure works.
If enough people speak up, a life may be saved.
Many of the deaths in ICE custody have been due to medical neglectโฆ letโs make sure Rodney isnโt one of them.
