Resisting School AI Mania Help Sheet Help Sheet: Resisting AI Mania in Schools K-12 educators are under increasing pressure to use—and have students use—a wide range of AI tools. (The term “AI” is used loosely here, just as it is by man...

I've updated my document that tackles four of the common arguments used to encourage teachers to use AI.

I hope this will be helpful to those educators wanting to push back on AI mania.

Bentley University allows ICE agents to use their campus as a staging area. If you or a family member goes there or works there, you might want to make a fuss about that.

A free and democratic society cannot silence comedians because the President doesn’t like what they say.

This is an attack on free speech and cannot be allowed to stand.

All elected officials need to speak up and push back on this undemocratic act.

Mourning a country--its land, ideals, and people--is like mourning the deaths of family, except no one comes to tell you they are sorry they are gone. There is no food, no memorial. I did not know I loved so many things. I did not know they were so vulnerable.

Political violence is bad. It usually begets more political violence.

Celebrating political violence is bad. It usually encourages more political violence, against various targets.

Campus shootings are bad. They make everyone on campus less safe.

It's bad that what I wrote here is controversial.

Opinion | The easiest way to end district gerrymandering? Eliminating districts. Save democracy by holding a single, winners-take-all vote for congressional seats in every state.

Here’s an idea worth pursuing even if both major parties would oppose it now:

Last week, Boston received a letter from AG Bondi threatening to prosecute officials and withhold funds unless we cooperate with carrying out mass deportations.

The US Attorney General asked for a response by today, so here it is: stop attacking our cities to hide your administration’s failures.

It's interesting to talk with school leaders & districts about the sort of terminal condition of school data today. Ironically, they have more data than they've ever had before but lack the processes & resources to make sense of it in ways that are timely, actionable, AND meaningful...

If you use multi-member districts you don’t need maps, or at least the ones you do need are easier. The fact that RCV is still catching on says nothing about its effectiveness.

All of this, yes. Adding: teachers (contra stereotype) are naturally charitable, credulous and (often wrongly, alas) assume the tech industry shares their essentially non-profit core mission about education, which they, very much for-profit, do not.

Never enough "Cui bono?" asked.

What it is going to take is one university after another simply saying, we will not deal. This is not a legitimate way for the executive branch to interact with universities and we will not do it. Full stop.
